Has there been thoughts in Ankara since the break up the USSR in the 90s for a Turkic states version of NATO I know there is a cultural and economic cooperation with those post Soviet Turkic Republics but has it been bought up

. . .
Hmm Mongolia founded and left the org in a span of a year looks pretty dormant Turkey has very limited options on that part of the world cant overt push influence that would piss the Russians and the Chinese ,Turkey needs to play nice with them to get a foothold there

Why to use the word NATO. Can't we be original for a second?

I meant a version like NATO example the Russian or post Soviet version of NATO is called CSTO

Let's discuss it deeper then.

Why should someone go for a military alliance?

Feeling safe; Security is the first priority for countries. Not everyone is powerful enough to protect themselves against threats. That's the main reason countries join military alliances.

So, what you gonna need ?

- Pole. Alliances are formed around a strong leader country militarily, economically and politically.

First, Most of the Turkic countries are still in sphere of influence of countries like Russia. And Turkey is not strong enough to challenge them, yet.

- Threat or goal. Which forces countries to unite against/for.

Secondly, there is no an open threat directed at Turkic world as a whole. Turkey may intervene into Islam related issues but not all of the Turkic countries share Turkey's Turk-Islam view. This will be a problem.

- Power. The level of the pact's deterrence against others.

It will be powerful for sure as military. Still, none of us have nukes. Indiginous air defence systems, fighter jets, 5000 or 10000 km range intercontinental ballistic missiles etc. Turkey's programs will take some more time to reach that level.

- Survivability. The union must be resistant against threats.

Will be fragile due to lack of other criterias.

- Money. A good percentage of controlling the world economy.

Won't be enough due to lack of other criterias.

At this point a Turkic military alliance will be limited. It will be not more than test-bed for future plans till someone gets stronger enough and take the lead...

These Turkic countries are a joke so long as they don't get rid of their old USSR puppet dictators. Especially with their current states, it's pretty hard to form an alliance with them let alone a united military formation. Though my guess is they will always stay like that for the next few decades, stuck between an identity crisis and absolute autocrats. Most of them don't even acknowledge their "Turkic" roots but rather live as a second class Russian :)

I think it's more beneficial to have economic and development union than anything else. If we can help each other with developing the countries and keep those ties strong it could lead to whatever. But starting with a military treaty is bound to fail.

Cannot be based on race, NATO isn't based on race. Nor are any meaningful contemporary international organizations.

Perhaps the following countries could build a defense pact similar to NATO:
1. Turkey
2. Pakistan
3. Malaysia
4. Brunei
5. Azerbaijan
6. Northern Cyprus
7. Albania
8. Sudan
9. Somalia

That could be a beginning. What to call it? I'm sure someone could come up with a name...

As for central Asia, Turkey needs to establish Turkish schools and cultural organization so that it can slowly gain a foothold there.

Which of the above countries have recognized TRNC ?

Fetö was actually doing that, but the fallout with rte screwed it up royally.

Will you please share your references to say those things above?

... let's see the avatar in your profile is not for ''decoration'' of credibility to ill-talk of The Turk in threads especially like this one.

I'm not a daydreamer friend, I don't waste my time with delusions. I do have that profile picture because I like my Turkic heritage but that doesn't mean I have to like the current state of the Central Asian countries. I've seen more than enough to know that these people are at least a few decades behind Turkey in every regard and that includes their mentality towards Turkish people. I used to be naive like that just a few years ago but you'll learn it soon enough. For all I care, we should use this Turkic root to expand our influence in those countries and make business with them, etc etc but that's it. Be like the person on your profile; Atatürk, he was a realist.

I see no arguments to back up the previous post of yours... who is the delusional now?

Read the early times of young Turkey, and then compare it with the current developments in those young Turk countries and their co-operative organisations with Turks around.

In short, have knowledge before talking, or remove the avatar even for decoration of credibility among Turks.
