Turkey signs credit deal for six submarines

U-214TN class submarines of the Turkish Navy will feature air independent propulsion technology and indigenously developed advanced subsystems.

A credit agreements were signed for six submarines to be manufactured by naval shipyards in Turkey with assistance from Germany.

Turkish Treasury said in a statement on Friday that it signed a credit agreement of $2.18 billion euro with the banks consortium led by Bayerische Landesbank.

The credit will be used to finance manufacturing of six AIP (air-indepent propulsion) technology U-214TN submarines in Turkey.

Submarines will be heavily modified as to meet Turkish Navy’s highly specific tactical and technological requirements.

means almost 483 million per Submarine really a good deal for Turkey


Type 214 is really a great sub


Cant India do the same and scrap that 13 billion dollar competition

financial and political factor might have refrain pn to get this beast . you will need around 2.5 billion dollar if we take turkish deal as standard .

These might be more expensive for us because we are integrating our own systems. electronic and weapon systems, including sensor, communications, and data processing systems. These will all be Turkish made. The complex stuff like Fuel Cells and Propulsion systems will be shipped over from Germany.

If there would have been financial factors then they wouldnot have been negotiating deal for 5 years .Mean if you know you can't afford a system then why the hell you will negotiate it for so long? it doesnot make any sense.there might be something else going around which we don't know
