Turkey's Defense Minister Vecdi Gonul said on Wednesday Turkey hoped to cooperate with Pakistan on unmanned aircraft.
"We will now modernize F-16 jets, and we hope to cooperate on unmanned aircraft," Gonul said during his meeting with Pakistan's Minister of Defense Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar in Ankara.
Before their tete-a-tete meeting, Gonul said Turkish and Pakistani defense ministries were cooperating not only in defense industry but also in other military issues.
Gonul said many officers and military students went to Pakistan under a student and officer exchange program between the two countries, and the vice-versa.
Turkey and Pakistan were planning to implement many new defense industry projects, Gonul said.
Also, Mukhtar said Pakistan was seeing Turkey beside itself whenever it faced a problem.
Regarding the Israeli raid on a Gaza-bound aid flotilla, Mukhtar said many innocent people lost their lives and hoped that Turkey would get a positive result in its compensation demands in the possible shortest time.
Mukhtar also said the trade volume between two countries would climb to 2 billion USD from 800 million USD.
The Pakistani minister said he also hoped the railway project, planned to be constructed on Pakistan, Iran, Turkey and Europe route, would be implemented as soon as possible.
Mukhtar said project on Pakistan's purchasing military trucks from Turkey was under way, but it could take some time. He hoped the project would be concluded soon.
