Turkey seeks arrest of 300 army officers, say prosecutors
Published 1 day ago on 22 February 2019

ISTANBUL, Feb 22 — Turkey today issued arrest warrants for almost 300 active military officers for alleged links to a failed 2016 coup aimed at unseating President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, prosecutors said.

A total of 295 officers including two colonels are targeted in the warrants, the Istanbul prosecutor’s office said.

They are accused of having links to US-based Muslim preacher Fethullah Gulen who Ankara blames for orchestrating the failed putsch.

Tens of thousands of people have been arrested over suspected links to Gulen, a former Erdogan ally turned foe who has denied the allegations against him.

The latest arrest order issued in 59 cities including Istanbul comes on the heels of police raids this week seeking to detain over 300 people including military personnel suspected of ties to coup plotters.

Turkish authorities carry out raids almost daily against people suspected of supporting Gulen.

Despite criticism from rights advocates over the magnitude of the crackdown, Ankara insists the raids are essential to remove Gulen’s alleged influence in state bodies. — AFP

Lol. CPC should give you a salary raise for hardworking :D

Wait, did we just arrest them for questioning for being member of a terrorist organization who tried a military coup? No death penalty? Oh sorry, this is not China. My bad.

I wonder if Turkey put all army officers in jail what if a war breaks out, who's gonna lead the army? Turkish politicians?

No worry for us honey, we just made some big cross-border succesful operations after kicked out hundreds of rotten apple from the army. Army is now more efficient than ever without these CIA-extension worms.

The US backed traitor FETO terrorists never can fight in a war , so now the Turkish Armed Forces are more stronger than ever

only Gendarmerie took over 50.000 new officers after the failed coup attempt by 2016
and Gendarmerie will take more over 25.000 new officers in 2019
even I am not talking about the Turkish Armed Forces and Police Special Forces

If chinese soldiers or officers tried to do a coup I wonder what the Chinese government will do especially if many have fled the country.

By the way Turkish army maybe affected by this purge but they will not lose their strength.

Every army goes through this.

Looks like Turks themselves are doing the job Kurds wanted to do:rofl:

Without any doubt, waves after waves purge will weaken their army, just like Stalin did before the nazis invaded, and Turk army is the pillar of society secularism.

I am not surprised turkey will become like saud today in 20 years.
