Yavuz class frigates from Turkey are going to be retired by 2017-19. Reportedly these are offered to BD, Pak and Indonesia with a Turkish upgrade of NATO systems. BN and PN may get 2 of those ships each.

Turkey has many naval projects proceeding simultaneously. When It is needed, Turkish industry can offer almost all type of warships to friendly countries but The source tells It is Turkish navy offering missile frigate to Bangladesh. It reminds me some already used frigates to be given with a cheaper price but not a new project so I wanted to reach details.

If It is new warship design that source tells to us, You can reach the details about current ongoing naval warship projects.

There was news and a thread also indicating Pakistan and Turkey are interested in building Milgem and also F-22P will have some changes and weapon systems. May be this project would be given some other name. How ever there might also be some deal for 57M Petrol Boats because now Gawadar port is operational.

Turkish Navy was also keen in selling U-204's to Pakistan Navy so may be some other surface ships are also available.

@Penguin any news about this development.

MEKO 200TN Track I ... not a bad ship at all.
Good CIWS fit with 3 Sea Zenith quad 25mm Oerlikon KBB (biggest most powerfull 25mm round available).

From the late 1980s so about 30 years old when they become available > should have 10-15 years life left. Due to the modular design, can relatively esily be refitted with new systems. See Australian navy ANZAC class.

The Yavuz class frigates have the CODAD propulsion method with 4 MTU 20V Diesel engines, which require a substantial amount of maintenance. The later Track IIA frigates have major improvements including the CODOG propulsion method with 2 MTU 16V diesel engines and 2 LM2500-30 Gas turbines, a greater displacement of 3350 (full load) and the replacement of the older Mk-29 Sea Sparrow launcher with the Mk-41 Mod 8 VLS.

Personally, I would prefer the Track II (Barbados class) ships but hey if the price is right, the track 1 ships are nice. A pair of mk41 VLS could be installed > up to 32 ESSM possible. Or a pair of Sylver 35 > up to 32 CAMM/SeaCepter, Mica VL, or Umkhonto. If available get all four if you can.

@Penguin
How many are available?
Yavuz class was manufactured in Turkey so maybe it is possible that they are also buying the rights to make the, in Pakistan

MEKO 200TN Track 1 > 4 ships in service., all from 1987-1989. At a nominal servicelife of 30yrs, they could be paying off in 2017-2019

MEKO 200TN Track 2A > 2 ships, both from 1997
MEKO 200 TN Track 2B > 2 ships. one from 1998 and one from 2000.
These won't be near retiring for another 10 years

In 2012 the track 2a frigate TCG Salihreis got a brand new 3D Smart-S Mk2 radar, replacing the AWS-9 3D radars of British origin that it was delivered with. A modernization program for the MEKO 200 class was started after Turkish decided to use Smart-S Mk2 radar in the first two ships of the Milgem class. The difficult and sometimes dangerous maintenance and the structural complexity of the AWS-9 radars does not make these equipment very popular among its users. So there will be other replacements.

actually they are one of the most preferable candidate besides Type 23 Frigate currently in use with Royal Navy and Bremen Class to replacing our old Van Speijk class frigate, Indonesia is in hunting for at least 6 frigate

Erdogan has also strengthened Turkey’s defense links with Bangladesh in recent years. Bangladesh’s navy has particularly close links with Ankara. Last year, Turkey offered Bangladesh guided missile frigates in a major government-to-government deal.

http://thediplomat.com/2016/07/can-bangladesh-and-turkey-mend-frayed-ties/

Bangladesh's relations with Turkey is close to nadir right now... As for the guided missile frigates, BN is currently looking aggressively at Chinese options...

AFAIK its a pretty silly rumour given current state of relations between Turkey and Bangladesh because of the war crimes hangings etc.

B'desh is more focused on chinese vessels as posted earlier.
