Turkey joins Pakistan, China in joint efforts for Space Technology

BEIJING (China): Turkey has joined Pakistan, China and six other countries in the region to make joint efforts for the development of space technology.

Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in China Oktay Ozuye signed the Convention of the Asia Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO) on behalf of his government. Thus Turkey has become the ninth State to sign the APSCO Convention.

Informed sources said on Wednesday that the organization is aimed at promoting multilateral cooperation in the field of space technology.

Other six countries that have already inked the Convention are Iran, Indonesia, Thailand, Bangladesh, Mongolia and Peru. Five countries Argentina, Brazil, Philippine, Russian Federation and Ukraine joined the APSCO with observer’s status.

Sources say that this is a big breakthrough in strengthening regional cooperation for peaceful use of outer space for the benefit of all mankind.

Pakistan and China played a pioneering role in establishing the organization, first of its kind to expand and intensify cooperation in space activities in the Asia-Pacific region.

This will enable the member countries to share their experience, know-how and potential for their common benefit. They will share their available resources in the use of satellite remote sensing data in environmental protection, natural resources exploitation as well as disaster monitoring and prevention.

The sources hoped that Pakistan and other member countries that joined APSCO will soon get the Convention ratified by their respective Parliaments to make it fully functional. Meanwhile, an interim council at the Ministerial level had been constituted to undertake necessary preparatory work.

China, being a host country has offered to provide full financial support for the establishment and operation of the APSCO until 2006. As such, the member States are not under any obligation to make financial contributions during the preparatory phase. However, they will be required to pay their financial contributions from the year 2007.

Taking in view the immense potential of Space Technology and its spin-offs in the socio-economic uplift of the countries, three Asia-Pacific countries, China, Pakistan and Thailand had taken an initiative and jointly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in February 1992 for setting up the Asia-Pacific Multilateral Cooperation in Space Technology and Applications (AP-MCSTA).

According to the sources, the benefits to be accrued to the Asia-Pacific countries by virtue of their membership to APSCO will be enormous, including creation of multilateral compatibilities among space systems by the member states that can provide enhanced capabilities in several areas of space technology applications.

Old news! Why don't you people check dates thoroughly before posting stale information?
Oh BTW, didnt Turkey recently send a micro satellite on Indian ISRO's PSLV?

Old news or new news, we can celebrate it whenever we feel like it. I usually do not eat too many veggies like "gubbi" or cauliflower, they smell very bad when I take a ****. If you try to derail threads, you can be booted out of the forum.:pakistan::chilli::sniper::sniper::sniper::sniper:

Its always good news to hear about multi-national cooperation in space.

what kind of things does APSCO do?
does it just share technology or is it an agency like NASA and ISRO.

PRC is crazy!

Turkey is a main member of NATO and supporting Xinjiang terrorism.

Why China help suck fuckable state!

Well, Turkey is not a member of NATO yet, they've been trying for 50 years. And I seriously doubt Turkey will ever be a NATO state. Supporting the Uighur part, my limited understanding of Islam is, Muslims usually live with Muslims, and Qu'ran teaching requires All Muslims love their Muslim brothers and be true to each other. Living in this environment, its natural sometimes Muslims will `blindly' support Muslims whenever there is a `conflict' between Muslims and non-Muslims, let alone to say Uighurs are special to Turks. I think this time the good ol' China again is willing to go that extra step to understand others even in my opinion Turkey this time has go beyond the deplomatic norm to sharply critize China on the Xinjiang issue.

Secondly, Turks are generally true and warm and emotional people, Chinese generally consider these people are potential friends.

And, Turkey is a good friend of Pakistan. What can we do, we just have to try to love them. :cheesy:

Any eye for an eye is western style and will never be the founding principle of Chinese diplomatic success.

However, Turks and Iranians lack the subtly. Iranians weren't happy in their post-revolution when Deng previous visited their Shah. They interpreted it as a sign of support of their domestic `enimies'. They failed to acknowledge Chinese non-interference foreign policies.

They are more prone to act spontaneously while sino-Pakistan relationship has always been natural. I've learned from this forum that Pak is the place where Indus civilization was born. All acient cultures living to this day will have no trouble to understand and read each other. That makes, well, Egypt, China, Pakistan, and well, according to Indians, no India. :cheesy:

As Dear War Prof said, despite all their tries the Whities ( )wont accept them, just because of fears, fears that they are Muslim and somehow that is anti Europe :disagree:.

The reason why Turkey pursues this NATO issue is that, while the only bad it does to Turkey is the requirement of sending your own troops whenever the Western War Machine imposes a new war on the world somewhere, BUT, it has many good points as well. For example, Turkey will soon be getting the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.

And I seriously doubt Turkey will ever be a NATO state.

I think so too, the Europeans are too "WISE" to let that happen!! because their is a HISTORY that proves their intentions, today evident in the words of Sarkozy, Oh how bitter he is in reference to the Muslim aspect of Turkey. , Also Turkey will have a large vote in the EU which the Europeans can never digest.

Living in this environment, its natural sometimes Muslims will `blindly' support Muslims whenever there is a `conflict' between Muslims and non-Muslims,

I dont think Islam has anything to do with Turkey supporting the Uighur terrorists, read below:

Supporting the Uighur part,

in my opinion Turkey this time has go beyond the deplomatic norm to sharply critize China on the Xinjiang issue.

I think, it is very sad Turkey did this, which is probably something the West might have ordered it to do, just like the Am eri cans, and their criticism of China related to human rights when Am er ica itself has done so many Human rights violations across the whole world. Turkey should not criticize China, rather it should play its role in preventing the Uighurs from being used against good old Chian as some western powers would like to. :disagree:

I think this time the good ol' China again is willing to go that extra step to understand others even

Any eye for an eye is western style and will never be the founding principle of Chinese diplomatic success.

I am not saying this because I am a Pakistani and so will naturally be taken as biased regarding China since our old alliance, BUT, I am saying this because this is the truth. China's foreign policy is a great lesson in peace and harmony among humanity for those in the west who like to spread war anywhere they can.

The Foreign Policy of China is an actual demonstration in peace and prosperity and understanding of other peoples. :smitten::china:

Secondly, Turks are generally true and warm and emotional people, Chinese generally consider these people are potential friends.

I agree, the Turkish people are good honest and straight forward people like the Chinese, this naturally makes China, Pakistan and Turkey mutual friends. I hope Turkey has better relations with China in the future instead of following along the lines of the West.

You are wrong about Turkey not being a part of Nato!

Turkey has been an integral part of Nato for a long time...

But Nato still sucks big time! Bunch of bullies...
