A cooperation protocol was signed between Huawei and Turkey's technology park Informatics Valley for smart cities on Friday.

Speaking at the signing ceremony in the industrial province of Kocaeli, Turkey's Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank said this protocol was a significant step to make Turkey a technology base.

"World's giant Huawei and Informatics Valley will work together in the frame of Turkey's Technological Research Council's Research & Development (R&D) Laboratory Support Program," Varank said.

Within the scope of cooperation with Huawei, a center will be established for developing technologies in artificial intelligence, big data, internet of things, blockchain and smart mobility fields, the minister noted.

He added: "We bring prominent R&D companies in our country."

"We want to see Turkey as a leading production base for industry and technology," Varank said.

He underlined that high value-added production was the basis of the ministry's "National Technology and Powerful Industry" vision.

Varank said, Informatics Valley, Turkey's first and biggest thematic technopark, hosts over 50 technology firms.

"Turkey has a strong R&D ecosystem, our opportunities are attractive for both domestic and foreign investors," he added.

Chinese guy look very happy

Huawei has presented a special award to Turkish professor Dr. Erdal Arikan, the inventor of polar codes for 5G, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the development of communications technology

Don't be ridiculous. It is Turkey, not a communist and censored regime where you need even separate game servers.
For Huawei, it's simply business.

But I am surprised Turkey decided to award them with this agreement amidst USA's rhetoric.

He looks happy becos the award was presented in 2010 when Uyghur camp issue hasnt blown over the top by Turkish. Now in 2019 is a different case.

I know elections can be rigged.

But firstly, opinion of a leader does not change the political structure because, in case you missed it, in a democracy, that ain't possible with only one person.

Secondly, media assertions are bullshit honestly, there is something wrong when the title begins with "dictator seeks control," when media is supposed to be unbiased. International media is available for money to anyone, they're always on payroll of many organizations; they always sing each others tunes, you should note it sometimes or see papers by people who have PhD in media and politics.

In Turkey, if anything happens, it will surface faster than a forest fire. The media there isn't oppressed, the people's voice there isn't oppressed, if anything is oppressed, it would be the military on the pretext of danger of a coup.

Furthermore, their founding father, Mustafa Kemal Atatuerk, was a secularist. The Turkish people have differences over how "secular" those secular policies be, but they all hold great respect for Mustafa Kemal and so democracy is the last thing in danger in Turkey.

It's just another project under tech council. Stop making noise just like China overtakes Turkey. Business is business.

Turkey has better democracy than the US and the EU
even there are PKK terrorist supporter party named HDP in Turkish Parliament

the US and the EU never can allow a ISIS or AL QAEDA supporter party ,, not even a press

There is no free press under such system

they are belong to terrorist PKK and FETO
nobody can support terrorism under the mask of press

Election can be rigged. Do you know how hitler came to power?

Stalin,Mao,Churchill and Roosevelt same criminal scum like Hitler

ERDOGAN,MERKEL,PUTIN rules their own countries for over 15 years ..... so cheap anti ERDOGAN propaganda wont work

the Western countries dont want Huawei ..... They accuses Huawei of stealing trade secrets, defrauding banks and money laundering

so Huawei should be happy to work with a G-20 Country TURKEY

what about the US,the UK,Germany, even Canada,Australia,New Zealand and others ?

The contract between Huawei and the Czech Presidency has long been considered by China as a springboard for the expansion of activities in the European Union. However, Czech cyber security units shared a report last December that Huawei's activities in the Czech Republic are now a national threat

.
Very nice for Turkey.

I believe that Huawei should also be involved in CPEC and Gwadar.
