@ValerioAurelius .. Mate, tourism still didn't collapse... Let's wait for next year, don't lose your hope :azn:

.
what a surprise to see that china number is so small, only 1/25 of thailand. I plan to visit turkey next year, taking advantage of your cheap Liras .

I have good memories of visiting Istanbul in 2009. Lovely place, good people.

Do you know why Turkey dropped its prize so dramatical? They even pay money to airlines to not change destinations. Your numbers show that Germans for example dropped by 2 million. in 2015 you had 5 million German visitors. When you look at your numbers the western market collapsed for you.

Also interesting to see that almost no Italians travel to Turkey and Europe in general plays no role anymore. That expplains why your agencies sell all inclusive in european countries for dumping price.

In Italy we have the oppossite problem. We fight tourism. The price in Italy skyrocket more and more for hotels. Our cities are flooded with tourists. You cant go out at evening without flooded streets. Its too full and this stupid AirBnB makes things worse. People buy apartments and rent them to tourists.

The most affected nations by this are Italy, Spain but also France and Portugal.

The main problem is that other tourist destinations like turkey and egypt collapsed for western tourists and they now come here even more than before. The higher prices dont shocked them yet so officials try to find other ways to ease the pressure a bit.

We fight tourism...that's a good one...
italy Tourism ecosystem share on his GDP is around 11-12%... So you can keep your escuses for yourself...

As for Airbnb..; it's the same problem for any tourist countries..the problem with it... is they do not pay their taxes share to the country...that's the problem... France is imposing it...and by themagic of money... Airbnb is not a problem anymore...

As for the "supposed" low price for Turkey...well...not really... the price almost stayed the same... ( since few years back... it's 15-30€ les sin average)
Turkey share of Tourist is shifting...by an increase in non-EU tourists... that's why the increase... and it's a good thing.

Top EU tourist spot...got their number drastically decreased since few years now... and THEY ALSO cuttng their prices... They are even making Ads in Tunisia to travel in Italy... with" interesting" prices... So at this moment you know they need it...

The winner in Europe is UK, with his cheap pounds..( at least for now)...

.
Wow

If every one of them , brought in a meager 100 USD

Imagine the money turks made !

. .
Tourists do spend more than 100 USD, I think it's awesome, but I have to point out that the TL since jan 2017 has lost aprox 20% in value, just look at the exchange rates. This is good for tourism and export. it's not a good thing if this continues.

People here demonstrate against tourism. They spray graffiti on busses, demonstrate on hotels and so on.

What worth has income when your cities are overcrowded and your daily routine gets worse and worse? Venice for example collapses under the tourist hordes. Fireze and Pisa have become unbearable.

Italy already is most visited nation and it gets worse.

As for Turkey, you get 1 week in a 5 star hotel all inclusive there now for 270 € with flight for two persons. I would not even go for free there and when we look at the numbers we see that counts for most Europeans.

Tourism was one the "things" that kept Italy the head out of water...during the crisis years ago...

And with the likes of those " tourist=terrorism"... it's quite the sight... that Italy has fallen too...
Italy want tourist and even more..and the gov will keep seeking for more... youlike it or not... it's one the heart of Italy "revenue" ... without it..;and Italy will drown...

Well we demonstrate it away in our cities. Local people are quite effective in showing people they are not welcome. No matter what politicians want. In Lucca we push tourists aside when they stand in our way for example.

Do Italians visit other countries?

Yes we travel alot. Mostly other EU nations but als South America is a top destination for us.

Italians do usually not travel to islamic countries in large numbers though.

.
Too bad, Russian and German these 2 biggest European Imperialists are obviously obsessed with Turkey, it's a red alert! :D
