A nice video presentation from Ardan Zenturk, a Turkish journalist specialized on diplomacy, defense etc., on the evolving Turkey-Taliban relationship. Key points:
- Afganistan is as historically important as Pakistan as far as the Turkish core geo-strategic principles, relations, interests etc. are concerned. No jokes here
- The Turkish forces are vacating the Kabul airport. As per the talks with the Taliban leadership, technical help to run the airport will be provided. A Turkish private security company will provide the security to the Turkish personnel. A Turkish special forces unit will remain stationed in Islamabad for any eventuality
- As for the recognition of the Taliban government, Turkey wants to go ahead with the other regional powers like Pak, Russia etc., who are demanding an inclusive central government in Kabul
- Thanks to the Indian armed/financed/trained ISIS-K, the Taliban are now a strategic partner of the USA! So, the Turkish recognition willnow get much less opposition from the USA
- Russia has declared Afghanistan as a red-line to the US authority. They're talking
- Thanks to the Li/Co/Ni etc. and rare earth materials deposits in Afghanistan, which would influence the 21st century global economy the way petrol was for 20th century, the USA/Russia/EU/China etc. will be OK with a KSA model (not questioning the Islamic governance)
- Even Iran is OK with the Taliban
