US official termed mutual ties with Pakistan as important.
WASHINGTON (Dunya News) – Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary for the State Department Henry S. Ensher said that pressure will continue to be put on Pakistan until it changes its policy towards regional peace and stability in Afghanistan.

Addressing a symposium in Washington, the US official termed mutual ties with Pakistan as important, adding that status quo in Afghanistan is not suitable for Pakistan.

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) uses Afghan territory as a platform for attacks in Pakistan, he opined.

He further encouraged bilateral negotiations between Pakistan and India to reduce the tensions and to resolve disputes including Kashmir issue.

"US assistance has helped put 3200MW on the grid-enough to power several major Pakistani cities," Henry stated.

This is an appeasement statement. We can't take it seriously after the damage that the US has caused to Pakistan's security, well-being and interests.

The only Afghan policy that Pakistan will implement is the return of Afghan refugees, the fencing of the border and total distance from the Afghan war.

America and its allies are free to kill and liberate Afghanistan.

This is why we should be on the front foot and bomb Afghan territory. At the very least it'll give the boys practise in striking using JF-17 and the new drones we have.

What's new here?
New is their acknowledgement of the reality.
So from here we can start.
Its timing is interesting since it comes after DG ISPR's statement that we want USA to stay in Afghanistan for peace.

We need to take USA into confidence and make an agreement that PA will put its boots and even use air support for surgical strikes against TTP and ISIS. But since USA is behind ISIS so I can't say for sure how good it will be.

As one member said above, it's just an appeasement statement.

I'm not sure boots on the ground are a good idea, but we should certainly be bombing IS and TTP terrorists and lettings Taliban do the mop up. If anyone, they're the ones we should be coordinating with.

No, Pakistan should stay away from Afghan Civil War. Not our headache.

Secondly, Pakistan is in touch with US in relation to assassination attempts on TTP figures in Afghanistan.

I feel we should be proactive and not reactive. One of the reasons the Americans have so much sway around the world is because they're so proactive in thier foreign policy.

Regardless of when we will end up with a Taliban government for neighbours.

Right now we have thier whole senior leadership under our wing (if reports are to be believed).

Why not positively influence them for our mutual benefit rather than sitting on our hands waiting for life to play out and then reacting.

Opportunities to change the course of a nation don't come by every day. Whatever happens next door will impact us.
