* Three suspects arrested, accused of planning big terror attacks in city

KARACHI: The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Sindh police claims to have arrested three suspected Taliban and seized a bomb-making factory of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Orangi Town on Saturday.
SIU chief Raja Omar Khittab confirmed the arrests of the TTP operatives and the seizure of the bomb factory in the precincts of the Sindh Industrial Trading Estate (SITE) police station.
He said the arrested men were planning big terror attacks in Karachi.
The SIU police said Taliban were being trained for preparing bombs and a large quantity of locally-manufactured bombs was seized from the factory.
According to details, the raid was conducted on a tip-off by an SIU team in the precincts of the SITE police station at a house where the three alleged Taliban Ghani Subhan, Maulana Rehman and Murad were arrested after a gunbattle.
During interrogation, the suspects revealed the location of the bomb factory in Qaimkhani Colony in Mochko area where the police raided and seized detonators, bottle bombs, pipe bombs and various other types of homemade explosives.
Police said Subhan was the leader of the trio and had established the laboratory, adding that he was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department police in 2006 but was later released on bail.
Police claimed the accused were involved in various criminal activities, including the blasts in an Internet cafe in Baldia Town and a video shop in north Karachi.
