* Three suspects arrested, accused of planning ‘big terror attacks’ in city

By Faraz Khan

KARACHI: The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Sindh police claims to have arrested three suspected Taliban and seized a bomb-making factory of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Orangi Town on Saturday.

SIU chief Raja Omar Khittab confirmed the arrests of the TTP operatives and the seizure of the bomb factory in the precincts of the Sindh Industrial Trading Estate (SITE) police station.

He said the arrested men were planning “big terror attacks” in Karachi.

The SIU police said Taliban were being trained for preparing bombs and a large quantity of locally-manufactured bombs was seized from the factory.

According to details, the raid was conducted on a tip-off by an SIU team in the precincts of the SITE police station at a house where the three alleged Taliban – Ghani Subhan, Maulana Rehman and Murad – were arrested after a gunbattle.

During interrogation, the suspects revealed the location of the bomb factory in Qaimkhani Colony in Mochko area where the police raided and seized detonators, bottle bombs, pipe bombs and various other types of homemade explosives.

Police said Subhan was the leader of the trio and had established the laboratory, adding that he was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department police in 2006 but was later released on bail.

Police claimed the accused were involved in various criminal activities, including the blasts in an Internet cafe in Baldia Town and a video shop in north Karachi.

OMG!

If a bomb factory is seized in Karachi, could there be a chance there are many bomb factories in other parts of Pakistan?Maybe FATA or tribal areas?

Nothing in the water. It is a very large city and it is easy to hide there. More and more talibs are getting caught this shows that the people have started informing the police about there where-abouts. There days are numbered in Pakistan.
I am concerned thought that not much headway is being made in South Punjab and Lahore.

I have read some articles in Pakistan media that Karachi has managed to be safer than other cities amidst the recent wave of terror attacks and religious violence. may be Karachi does better policing...

Man, uprooting the cause of suicide bombings is going to take even longer. I guess an effective way to stop is my finding this factory and removing them

Agree sir, but this Talibans are hardcore, especially the remaining one, which will be killed by PA, I do not want anymore suicide bombings in Pakistan already. So we should try to find the factories and remove them if they are found

I am sure PA is doing an excelletn job by encountering these killers. But make no mistake and dont have sympathy with Afghani Taliban. These guys need to be removed from everywhere. if they are in afghanistan o the other side of the border, then there is every chance of TTP coming back to paksitan.
