So the miniskirt is the new gauge to judge progress of a nation? The shorter the length the better!
A street in Kabul or the campus of Kabul University does not represent Afghanistan in it's entirety---Yes it was just the university campus where signs of "modernity" could be felt.
Miniskirts might look like a sign of "progress" to you, but to the Afghans(majority) it is a shame.
Ever wonder why the champion of liberalism couldn't do that despite more than 17 years of occupation? Because the people won't accept it.
Social media is a powerful tool for propaganda---propaganda which you have been fed.
A picture of the university campus is more than enough to make you believe about the availability of bikini car wash services in Panjsher.
Afghanistan was a tribal, conservative and agrarian society, which bore no resemblance with Europe whatsoever. Apparently, the only "progress" which was made never left the elite circles of Kabul. The ordinary Afghan never accepted cultural and physical invasion of his country, just like you never accepted US intervention. Or people must accept Russian intervention and resist US intervention for them to be the "good guys"?
Who are you to enforce your way of life upon others, even when they outright reject it? Afghanistan was never the commie utopia which you think it was. In reality, the Russians wiped out entire villages with frogfoots and hinds during that war of prosperity of yours.
You managed to salvage some dignity thanks to the Geneva accords otherwise there would have been a massacre of the conscripts heading towards the Oxus.
