Not exactly, check the statistics, now a 400 billion plus GDP, nominal more than Pakistan with a population of about 90 million or 9 crore.

It's literacy rate is 85%, young literacy rate is now 92%...during Shah of Iran period literacy level was the lowest at around 45%. Yes sanctions did hurt Iran but came stronger more mean and lean...

TBH Iran failed miserably to take advantage of huge resources in modern world. Unlike Pakistan where 95% of population is tribal and backward, their culture was also good to modernise population.

Imagine Iran right now with $2.5 trillion economy and USA going down the gutter with every passing year and losing influence on world stage. In that case if Iran showed middle finger to US no one could do anything. But they adopted religious rhetoric when it was time to develop and take advantage of oil dependent world. What obligation are the EU under to follow suit?? Maybe they would to support an ally, but Trump has made it clear that the leaders of Western Europe are more of a hurdle than allies. Germans control the union, and Merkel definitely wont back sanctions while trying to maintain a stable economy/relations. The UK is trying to rebuild its economy and likely wouldnt support sanctions either.

That only leaves NATO members outside the EU like Turkey who is obviously not going to back it, and Norway which Pakistan has very little trade with anyway.

You think the Saudis and the other gulf states are going to sanction Pakistan?? boy are you deluded.

There is no point debating this any further as it is your opinion against mine and time would prove who was correct.

Even if by some miracle the US + EU + Saudis sanctions Pakistan, it wont cripple us; Even though our economy is not affected by exports at all we can still find alternative markets, and if we need to import resources we can turn to our neighbours who are firmly out of the Americans camp.

What are the alternate countries? China, North Korea, Turkiye? Would they be able to provide you dollars required to buy oil? China only exports. Most countries have trade deficit with China.

The US will never sanction Pakistan anyway so theres literally no point discussing this.

This depends on the response of Pakistan.

Pakistan's support to Haqqanis may be a red herring and Pakistan's support to China may be the real reason. How can Pakistan convince that it would support US over China?
