RSS has also gone for change in the colour of socks to be worn by its volunteers, replacing the old khaki with dark brown, to go with the brown trousers they would now wear, with white shirt and black cap.

New Delhi, Oct 11: Smart dark brown trousers donned by RSS functionaries instead of khaki shorts they had worn for the last 90 years, stood out at the Sangh’s foundation day ceremony today, but the traditional bamboo stick will remain part of the uniform. While other aspects of its attire, from shirts to shoes, have undergone a makeover since the Hindutva organisation was founded in 1925, its khaki shorts, modelled after the then British constabulary, had been a constant.

RSS has also gone for change in the colour of socks to be worn by its volunteers, replacing the old khaki with dark brown, to go with the brown trousers they would now wear, with white shirt and black cap. The traditional bamboo stick will, however, remain part of the uniform. Volunteers in the northern and eastern states, which witness harsh winter, will also wear dark brown sweaters. Orders for the first lot of one lakh such sweaters have already been placed.

“Even though the readiness of the society to work with the Sangh on different issues has increased, the change in uniform has been made to take care of the comfort level and convenience while working. The transition heralds the change in the Sangh in tune with the changing times,” RSS’ head of communications department Manmohan Vaidya told PTI. He said over 8 lakh trousers have been distributed, including 6 lakh stitched trousers, and cloth for another 2 lakh handed over to RSS offices in different parts of the country.

The change in uniform was mooted in 2009, but there was no forward movement. The proposal was revived in 2015. After discussions, RSS leaders and volunteers arrived at a consensus that the unform needs to change. The All-India Pratinidhi Sabha ratified the decision. The shift is rooted in the Sangh’s desire to change by adopting a more convenient dress that is in tune with the changing times.

I know there are quite few RSS cadres on PDF, can someone shed more light on the organisational capabilities of RSS? Does it have large support base amongst ex servicemen/women? Does it encourage it's members to join the security forces of India?

And also does the Government disallow RSS cadres from joining Army/prison services like here in the U.K with BNP members not allowed to join?

Just curious.

Why should the GoI disallow RSS members from joining Army or Prison service ?

Because in my opinion it is a fascist organisation and all fascist organisations should be banned from joining security services in all the countries of the world. People like that with military training are far more dangerous to the state than those with no ideological baggage.

This is just my opinion of course, feel free to disagree.

you are entitled to your opinion
RSS has not resorted (or had to resort) to violence in a way "Islamic militant groups" in Pakistan have done

Brown Pants, hmm that reminds me,

There was a treasure ship on its way back to port. About
halfway there, it was approached by a pirate ship, skull and crossbones waving in the breeze!

"Captain, captain, what do we do?" asked the first mate.

"First mate," said the captain, "go to my cabin, and bring me my red coat."

Wearing his red coat, the captain exhorted his crew to fight. So inspiring was he, that the pirate ship was repelled without any casualties.

A few days later, the ship was again approached, this time by two pirate ships!

"Captain, captain, what should we do?"

"First mate, bring me my red coat!"

The crew, emboldened by their fearless captain, fought heroically, and managed to defeat both boarding parties, though they took many casualties. That night, the survivors had a great celebration. The first mate asked the captain the secret of his bright red shirt.

"It's simple, first mate. If I am wounded, the blood does not show, and the crew continues to fight without fear."

A week passed, and they were nearing their home port, when suddenly the lookout cried that ten ships of the enemy's armada were approaching!

"Captain, captain, we're in terrible trouble, what do we do?"

Pale with fear, the captain commanded, "First mate.... bring me my brown pants!"

chaddi is better for movement when doing physical work or sports. Trousers must be baggy pants and has its own problems

First you need to understand what RSS is instead of getting carried away by usual nonsense peddled by secular libtards.

RSS stands for Rasthryia (National) Swayamsevak (Selfhelping) Sangh(organization or group). Their local meetings and activities are public and any one can join it. Most of its members & ideals lean towards hindu values. This is more due to the fact that the organization was started in 1925 to bring hindus under one umbrella to make them a effective unit.
Just like any other organization they have their share of good & bad. There are other organizations which espouse more fundamentalist leanings but being smaller in size dont get noticed.

State of Karnataka v. Ranganathacharya Agnihotri
Similar decisions were made by the High courts of different states of India in different cases of political persecution of RSS volunteers.[143] One case involved Ranganathacharya Agnihotri, who was selected for the post of Munsiff but was not absorbed into service at least partially because he had been a volunteer of the RSS in his past. When Agnihotri approached to the then High Court of Mysore (now Karnataka High Court), he was reinstated. The Court said:

Prima facie the RSS is a non-political cultural organisation without any hatred or ill will towards non-Hindus and that many eminent and respected persons in the country have not hesitated to preside over the functions or appreciate the work of its volunteers. In a country like ours which has accepted the democratic way of life (as ensured by the Constitution), it would not be within reason to accept the proposition that mere membership of such peaceful or non-violent association and participation in activities thereof, will render a person (in whose character and antecedents there are no other defects) unsuitable to be appointed to the post of a Munsiff.

That is your opinion and I see no reasons to either agree or disagree with you. You are not an Indian and as such your opinion mean nothing to me or Govt. of India.

So YOu have failed to answer me why GoI should refuse to allow RSS members from joining the army or police.

Your logic is that since YOU personally have a prejudiced view, the GoI should share your view and act accordingle ?

RSS, india's equivalent to US' KKK[/QUOTE
I think there is a stark difference between the KKK and The Indian RSS. The KKK suffers from a superiority complex.... And on the other hand the RSS suffers from a stark Inferiority Complex. ... they only common ground they have is that they have a distain for minorities.

RSS are clownish little children. Lol.

To hide their skinny legs they have adopted pants.... Again their inferior leg syndrome giving RSS sleepless nights. :)

RSS is not Military or militant organization ... its a Sociocultural Organization with Nationalistic ambitions... The Training with lathi is just meant for Physical exercise ... RSS is a highly Disciplined organization... Its not a organization for Loud mouths, the point when a person is understood to be a nuisance they are kicked out of sangha ... they dont promote use of Violence in any of its class...

The main objective of RSS was to remove Caste System and other age old traditions in Indian society which lags it from embracing modernity ... Eg :- In the past the opinion of RSS on LGBT was that its a Disease and they where vocal about it , But over the time they stopped giving any opinion on the issue recently when the spokesperson of RSS was asked about LGBT they said Sexual life of person is his personal matter RSS and sangh has no issues with a persons sexual orientation ...

Apart from that RSS runs a large number of schools in tribal area's which are more then 15,000 in numbers through it community service wing called Seva Bharati...

It has 3000 primary health centers and more then 200 centers of differently abled Childrens and a number of orphanages which again are run by Seva Bharati...

Some of the the biggest affiliated organizations of RSS are...

BJP its Political wing ( Biggest Political Party in the world in terms of numbers of members)...

Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangha Biggest Labour's organizations in India...

Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP) world's biggest students organization...

Bharatiya Kisan Sangha worlds Biggest peasants organization...

Although Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad are supported organizations RSS has no say over them they work independently and most of the time against the advice of sangha ...

RSS has no affiliation with Indian defence forces ... although RSS has given platform for many Ex-army men and Widows and Families of Army men... RSS also considers its carders a secondary defense of the country in case of invasion...

It conducts the biggest Rescue and relief operation in every Flood, Tsunami, Earthquake they had their carders in Nepal during the last earth quake... Their rescue and relief operation is second only to government organizations ...

Best thing about Sangha is any Man can join it irrespective of religion, Caste that is the reason there are many Muslim , Jain , Buddhist, Sikh Sanghis ...
