Tripura Militants Arrested by Bangladesh Army

Bangladesh Army personal arrested two activists of a banned outfit of the state of Tripura with firearms in Choto Kalapani area under Ramgarh upazila of Khagrachhari district early yesterday. The arrestees are Jaharlal Chakma alias Mithun, 40, son of Biraj Mohan Chakma, and Khitacha Tripura alias Manoi, 24, son of Mohakumar Tripura of the area. Acting on a tip-off, an army team raided a house in Choto Kalapani area at around 2:30 AM arrested the duo. They also seized a revolver, a single-barrel gun, three bullets, toll collection receipts and a military uniform, said Major Sakhawat Hossain of Guimara army sub-zone. The arrestees were handed over to Guimara Police Station yesterday noon.

In another incident, On Tuesday last at about 6 PM 3(three) persons namely (1) Kosaram Reang, (30) , of Bishnucheran Para, Damcherra (2) Birku Reang (32) @ Mobel of Jeolcherra, Ambassa and (3) Debadanta Reang @ Deba (35) of Uttamjoy Para, Damcherra surrendered before 45 Bn A.R. C/coy at Char Killo, Khedacherra in North Tripura. During surrender they deposited (1) AK-56 rifle -01, (2) Magazine -01, (3) Rounds -19 (4) 7.62 mm pistol (made in USA) -01 (5) Magazine -01 (6) Rounds 05 and (7)Chinese hand grenade -01. They are being interrogated for the past few days.

Are these people Tripura insurgents fighting for independence of Tripura from India?

The fact that this news is coming out shows that we have a RAWami govt. in place, when RAW is successfully cleansed from Bangladesh, these news will never see light of day.

Bangladeshi citizens detained and subsequently handed over to police three hardcore militants of National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) on July 7 in Khagrachhari district in Southern Bangladesh after the trio killed a woman and left another injured. According to report, Joel Debbarma, a front line activist of All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) along with two others had attacked the wife of one Chitta Debbarma, a former ATTF cadre and presently associated with NLFT, on her way to a hotel. The accused Joel and others attacked the woman in front of the hotel with sharp weapons, killing her on the spot and injured another woman who was accompanying her.

Intelligence sources confirmed that the hotel is now funded by NLFT and was established by ATTF a few years ago, which was functioning as a safe house of anti-Indian militants in Bangladesh. Soon after the incident, residents of the area immediately detained the accused and handed them over to Bangladesh police.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Army arrested, following information extracted from NLFT militants, two activists of a banned outfit of Tripura with firearms in Choto Kalapani area under Ramgarh upazila yesterday. The arrested were identified as - Jaharlal Chakma alias Mithun (40) and Khitacha Tripura alias Manoi (24) and a revolver, a single-barrel gun, three bullets, toll collection receipts and a military uniform were recovered from their possession. An army team raided a house in Choto Kalapani area in wee hours and arrested the duo, intelligence officials confirmed, adding Bangladesh is continuing it's operation against banned militant outfits of northeastern region while assuring to check cross border movement of anti-Indian elements.

Meanwhile, BSF officials today informed that the two detained Bangladeshi nationals, including a personnel of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), had been released on July 6 last as a goodwill gesture. Mohammad Safiqul of 9 RAB along with Bangladeshi national Subrata Taki was detained by the villagers on July 5 allegedly when they were trying to kidnap a farmer. RAB has assured BSF that the its personnel would be punished as per the law and if required he would be produced before BSF in future too, BSF officials added. UNI BB LR RD1315 NNNN
