Toyota set to lead global auto sales for 3rd straight year

. . . .
Toyota bet on hybrid went wrong terribly. The trend is market opts for full EV.
Full EV lacks infrastructures which is impossible to maintain the grid due to huge demand on electricity that cannot meet impossible requirements if internal engines are to be banned. It is big mistake from VW who are going full EV.

As I have said, we are at the eve now. You are right that the grid cannot support full EV but I see a lot of monies to be make in power industries.

Today Combined cycle power plant can hit efficiency of 60%. From fossil to kinematics, the full EV efficiency can be as high as 40%. Modern gasoline engine efficiency is 25% from crude to kinematics.

I have a feeling Toyota is waiting to make the quantum leap directly to Hydrogen fuel cell technology and will keep selling hybrids till then

Myself an engineer, tell you hydrogen fuel is dead. It is totally not efficient.

Hmm.
Hybrids have decent demand for now in India. Toyota and Suzuki together launched a mid sized SUV which claims to deliver 28 km per litre of gasoline. Many people will lap up that kind of fuel efficiency. Charging is difficult for us in apartment living culture.

Hybrids tends to be 30% more efficient than combustion. I expect hybrid efficiency to be around 32% crude to kinematics, combustion is 25%. That is still below BEV 40% efficiency fossil to kinematics.

Hydrogen is horrible,

And there are many very very difficult technical problems.

I am in Portland, Oregon. I want to enjoy driving cross country and see New York City and come back in about 2 weeks. With a Toyota vehicle, I can do it easily. When do you think I will be able to do this in a Full EV? My guess is, not before 2040.

One other thing EV owners are discovering in this blizzard we are having EVs don't charge at temperature below -20 Celsius.

You can do that now with Tesla and their fast charging network

China now overtook Germany has world largest vehicle exporter. As fast as 2023, China could overtook Japan. Basically japan and Germany have no leverage against Chinese EV.

*******

China is now the second-largest auto exporter in the world after Japan, as the country’s car exports in the first nine months surged 55.5 percent from a year earlier on the back of growing overseas demand for its new energy vehicles, pushing Germany into third place.

China exported 2.11 million cars between January and September, according to the latest data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers. While Germany sold 1.91 million vehicles abroad over the same period, according to the German Association of the Automotive Industry.

Electric cars are becoming the new driver of China’s auto exports, said Cui Dongshu, secretary-general of the China Passenger Car Association. China-made NEVs are highly competitive in terms of their technology, price and models.

Neta only launched its first model overseas in August, but exports had topped 5,200 units by mid-September, the auto start-up told Yicai Global. This drove up deliveries to a record high in September at 18,005 units.

China's NEV sector has improved its overall competitiveness and can meet diversified global demand, said Fu Bingfeng, executive vice president and secretary general of CAAM.

This is the result of years of industrial backing, Fu said. The Chinese government has substantially increased its support for the sector in the past decade. When the global chip shortage struck, China’s NEV exports jumped, demonstrating the strength of the country’s complete industrial chain.

The auto parts industry is also benefiting a lot, said Wang Jialiang, general manager of Zhejiang Channov Auto Parts. Although sales this year are expected to be the same as last year, the firm’s exports in the first eight months soared almost 80 percent year on year. The company is putting more emphasis on developing NEV parts to make the most of this growing market.

Zhejiang ODM Transmission Technology exports around 60 percent of its products, said international supporting marketing manager Lai Chuanjun. In the first three quarters, the auto parts maker achieved sales of CNY900 million (USD124.1 million), a gain of 20 percent from last year.

Toyota car is good and getting better day by day.

The car is very well made and well thought.

Except it's more costly than the Chinese car.

For the same price, you can get better features, but the car design is not as good as Toyota.

I guess you are not updated on Chinese car. EV engine in inherently superior to combustion (me, engineer POV)
