Tourism department to launch ‘affordable’ south Punjab tours

MULTAN: “The Tourism Development Corporation Punjab (TDCP) has unveiled a set of proposals to allow people to explore and appreciate the top tourist sites in south Punjab,” Regional Manager Ashar Iqbal said on Thursday.

Iqbal said the tours would give people a chance to experience the cultural heritage of the region.

“As many as 27 different scenic spots and historical places have been selected for this programme… Families, employees and youth groups can enjoy these tours at affordable prices,” he said.

Among the chosen destinations are: Head Panjnad, Head Trimmu, Head Sidhnai, Taunsa Barrage, Lal Sohanra Park, Derawar Fort, Cholistan, Guddu Barrage, Indus delta and Fort Munro. In Multan division, the destinations selected are: Mailsi siphon and Jhandeer. Tours of Indus dolphin sighting and Bahawalpur city have also been planned.

The historical religious sites include mausoleums of Hazrat Baba Fareeduddin Shakar Ganj in Pakpattan, Hazrat Khawaja Ghulam Fareed at Kot Mithan, Syed Ahmad Sultan at Sakhi Sarwar, Hazrat Sultan Bahu at Garh Maharaja, Shah Suleman Taunsvi at Taunsa, Makhdoom Rasheed at Kabirwala and Masjid Sakeena Tul Kubra at Jatoi.

Iqbal said the tourism department would also arrange activities like hiking, trekking, bird watching, boating, fishing, cooking, riding, camel safari, jeep safari and folk music for the tourists.
