Face of terror gunned down in J&K
A Hizb-ul-Mujhadeen commander, who was nicknamed ‘killer’ for killing more than 25 civilians including his kin, was gunned down by security forces in Gulti Bagh area of Ganderbal district of south Kashmir.
Mushtaq Khan alias Mushtaq Janghi alias Mushtaq Killer, district commander of HM, was killed by the joint team of5 Rashtriya Riffles and the J&K police after receiving specific tip off about his presence in the forest area of Gutli Bagh.
Deputy inspector general of police, central Kashmir range, AG Mir said the elimination of Mushtaq is a major success for the police and the security forces in the area. “On a tip off, the Ganderbal police and 5 RR launched a search operation. Two militants hiding in the area opened fire on the search party, which was retaliated. In the ensuing encounter two militants were killed, which includes Mushtaq Khan. The identity of the other could not be established yet,” Mir said.
Two AK 47 rifles, four AK magazines and a Chinese grenade were recovered from the slain militants.
During the gunfight, one more militant, identified as Muzaffar, tried to escape from the cordon, but was arrested by the security forces.
“Mushtaq killer was active since the start of militancy in the Valley and he was the longest surviving militant operating here,”Mir said.
Ganderbal superintendent of police Shahid Mehraj said Mushtaq was the biggest killer of the civilians in the Valley. “He was involved in the killing of more than 25 civilians. He even killed his kin some years ago,” he said
“He was ruthless fellow and a true face of terrorists in the Valley,” Mehraj added.
