To save Pakistan, we have to let go of the idea of Pakistan

What buttload of baloney. You spout off(imean writer here) such articles when u have nothing meaningful left to do in your life.
This man has written off Pakistan from right even before the time it was created. He is writing off the entire struggle of attaining an independent state Pakistan by labelling the efforts as violent and that our states edifice stands on that.
Extremely pointless article where the sole aim is to create defeatist mindset, pin every single minuscle to major wrong happening on earth on Pakistan, as its fault. these pseudo liberal intellectuals have been assigned a fixed job by their masters, that is to try get down to the roots of the country and try slashing them off.
Just as mastankhan bahi said ,no head no tail start somewhere end elsewhere.
Like what was the aim of this article.
What needs to be done is that tuck these peudo intellectuals into giant catapults and launch them towards their lands of inspiration.

actually the writer is very clever. What he really wants to say is: since we cannot agree on whether Pakistan was supposed to be a secular country or an Islamic country, lets forget about it. Why forget? so we can make Pakistan a secular country!

Its amazing people have come to the point of abandoning their history.

I agree sir

its amazing how both the extremes (secular and religious) cannot digest the fact that Islam ensures equality, justice and freedom for all citizens. Both sides bring forwards such odd arguments that one wonders at their self proclaimed intellectual superiority.

I am amazed at the word "struggle" attributed to the haphazard Partition of India. It was a butcher job when what was needed was a surgeon. Fine - so in their boardrooms and country manors - Nehru and Jinnah could not come to a political agreement to protect the rights of the people they claimed to represent. But should the Partition have been done in this crass manner? On independence day - neither India nor Pakistan knew where would Lahore fall. Muslim areas like Gurdaspur were awarded to India (if you count Ahmadiyyas as Muslims) and Hindu majority areas like the Chittagong Hill Tracts were given to Pakistan. And theoretically 1/3rd of India - the Princely States were told - "You are independent - do what you want." All of them were a bunch of morons - the Indians and the Pakistanis. The only ones who were laughing at this fiasco were probably the British. I am sure a political settle could have been reached which would protect the rights of all minorities. If not, I am sure they could have Partitioned India more carefully. I don't get it - the British Parliament had given a time-frame till June 1948 to give independence to British India. What was the hurry?

And what is the outcome? Two neighbors who are always at each others' throats. All to satisfy the ego of the leaders of the time.

This is wrong.
Authors like these are the real danger for the world.

An Islamised Pakistan is what is ideal for Pakistan's neighbours. All that the author says is the current zehniyat of Pakistanis is what should persevere through generations.
