We keep hearing (or reading ) on PDF that north Indians call south Indians kaale (blacks ) and discriminate against them..I have never been to north..so, I don't know how true it is..I never heard anything like that from people here who visited north..however I read northeasterners are called chinkis by some university students and are discriminated against..my question is are there people over in north who look down upon south Indians for being black (which is not completely true )...can you make out that a person is a south Indian in the first place (except in a few cases )..We have some north Indians in our town who sell pani puri or do some menial works..I cant make out he is from other state unless he speaks in most cases.

Do north Indians think all Southerners are black?

No, South Indians are not considered black .

Neither have I seen discrimination with South Indians, if anything they are considered intelligent & diligent. . As regards making out where a person belongs to one can get a fair idea - our system of names itself is a give away. On reading a CV one gets a fair idea which part of the nation a man belongs.

Its most unlikely that a Nair / Reddy/ Muthuswamy or Gowda would belong to Punjab / haryana or UP. They may be settled or living there.. Similarly a Bora/ Gogoi / Shilo Ao / Angami/ Chamling would belong to the NE states - Assam, Nagaland . Sikkim.

There have been some unfortunate instances of name calling & discrimination of people from NE states in Delhi.

Mostly this is because a) we tend to keep to ourselves and do not mix easily . b) Social issues.

I do not see any cause for concern.

I can make out a south Indian once he speaks.

Or a bong.

Or a gujju.

LMAO OMG at this question... Have some faith and confidence in yourself.
You fool...it is not about confidence..I want to hear from north Indians what they think about south Indians..as I told I can hardly make out an average north Indian in most cases unless he opens his mouth.

Listening from north Indians would also make you realise what they really think about us.

Most around me thinks South Indians as highly intelligent and admire them for their grasp on English . However I won't rule out that there would be some who considers Southerners as black also, Since we Indians are quite racist .

P.S I've personally seen South Indians who are more fair than many in North.

North Indians are world's best looking, fair, tall godli people. No one on earth can match them in beauti. They are only on par with the Elves of Lord of the rings. Sorry to disappoint you South bro

Here is an example from Delhi,

He's asking a question not stating facts. U can relax a bit for this one. :)

That is what I am.saying..almost all Indians more or less look alike. There is no point Pakistanis thinking that north Indians discriminate against south Indians as we all look alike..

PS:In fact there is no point Pakistanis making fun of any Indian as even they more or less look like us...

There is nothing wrong with being dark.. Why are some of you going out of the way to prove invain that South Indians are not darker.. Why such inferiority complex of your complexions ? Being dark does not mean you're inferior, There is great beauty in dusky people

Lets not kid ourselves, South Indians are generally darker than North Indians, For myriad of reasons racial and climatic.. Few fair movie stars does not mean the general population is the same.. The more you get closer to the equator the darker the people get.. Simple

I don't think any North Indian discriminates against South Indians and North Easterners. Yes sometimes some idiot insensitive North Indian calls them some nasty names(I have seen it). But apart from occasional name calling I don't think South Indians and North easterners face any discrimination in case of jobs, promotion and availing of various benefits and rights under constitution. These people are one of most laborious, hardworking and talented people and have important role in nation building. In fact, most of I.T. Industry was established in South India with Bangalore as the silicon valley.

All the people living in India are Indians and constitution treats every Indian same.

You got me wrong mate..I am the last one to be bothered about a persons color..I have seen plenty of people who are dark and still good looking..being fair doesn't equate to being beautiful.

My only intention behind opening this thread is to show Pakistanis that southindians and north Indians don't insult each other or look down upon one another based on their skin colour. The reason is almost all Indians have same skin tone and facial features..except more north Indians have a long pointed nose when compared to south Indians.

As for your statement that south Indians are darker than north Indians ,well apart from Tamil nadu, the ratio of brown skin to black skin is almost same in north and south.

Neither the whole south India is dark nor the whole north India is fair...I have seen plenty of north Indians in my state and I can tell you with complete certainty.

Isn't your sangakkara or chandimal or kapugedera good looking in spite of being dark(OK chandimal a little less dark)?

Again.. the complexion of ones skin does not equate to beauty.. Thus your last question is irrelevant

As for denigration of darker skinned people, You cant generalize Pakistani's on this, Plenty of Indians right here in this forum with even worse bigoted views, The thing is we tend to ignore our own filth while pointing at others
