I don't understand someone's desire to kill another person for some artificial concept of nation.

Space travel has been a human desire even without any inclusion of war.

There are other topics like Vertical Farming and eye surgery which exist independent of war.

By late 2030s there will be a few hundred people on Mars. Should they divide up into nations and start fighting there too ?

I don't know how @fitpOsitive would answer to that ( he also dislikes war ) but I will state communism as the answer. True Communism will make humans to live in harmony with each other and with the ecosystem.

Nevertheless we have to experiment. There have been a few before, succeeded to various degrees, there should be more.

A proper communist political and economic system will allow the general person to be satisfied towards his material needs without unnecessary effort and misery. Additionally, such an economic system will remove the artificial economic imbalance among the citizens. That will eliminate most crimes and greed from society.

I have proposed such an economic system in this thread.
