TLP threatens to paralyse country if Aasia Bibi is acquitted

As long as Pakistanis have this 7th century Blasphemy Law and educated white collar guys actually sit on the internet and debate it in the most matter of fact way (oh he/she said or did so and so, therefore he/she must be put to death), Indians will continue to believe that there is a long long way to still go before the Sangh and its goons can turn India into anything similar.

Thank Khodaiji for PDF.

Thank you Jinna.

Basically, they [TLP] have placed themselves above the supreme court, the constitution and the state. From now all of Pakistan should refer matters to TLP whose decision is superior to the supreme court. Essentially this people have carried or trying to carry out a judicial coup where they take over the powers of the Pakistani courts.

And people wonder why the whole world avoids as much to invest in and why other countries are leaping ahead. The country is practically bankrupt, now desperately seeking IMF bailout and crying out for foreign investment and these numbnuts want to have nationwide riot to prevent the release of a single woman. Scenes of rioting idiots on streets of Pakistan will just garner international publicity and go reinforce the image of the country as a chaotic, lawless hellhole. CNN, BBC, Al Jazeera, ABC, TRT, China Daily etc

Message. Avoid Pakistan. Avoid Pakistani's.

Pakistan need a serious cleansing of all these so called religious personalities. I was watching a clip of an interview of this Khadim Rizvi guy. He is clueless, just watch this video

Their country . . .. . . . . . . Their laws !!

If Pakistanis think blasphemy law is good for their society so be it. who are you or i to oppose it.

at times start minding your own business doc :P

Deobandi Sect of Sunnis was radicalized during 80s to breed a generation of fighters against soviet union in Afghanistan and India in Kashmir and state instead of stopping this phenomenon of associating religious sentiments of people with a specific armed cause state encouraged it. And that went bonkers after 20 odd years.
Well said, but I think the two pivotal points in history from which this monster was made are -

  • 1949 Objectives Resolition. This provided the the legal basis, theoretical blueprint and inspiration for the likes of TLP, TTP etc
  • 1979/1989 Afghan Jihad. This provided the practical training, empowerment and organisation of such groups.
Although even within few years of 1949 in 1953 groups had began to flex their muscles and we saw the Ahmedi riots. The crux of the matter was. Pakistan is for Islam. Mullah are the custodians of Islam. So Pakistan should be run by Mullahs. After all who knows better about Islam then Mullahs. This idea was slowly gaining ground through the 1960s and Ayub Khan was pushed out largely because of the agitation by religious cadres. By 1970s they had become strong enough to force Bhutto to get legislate over the Ahmedi issue. By 1980s these groups had reached the zenith of their powers.

This does not concern you.

The law is not from 7th Century but recent. They did not need written laws in the 7th Century to Stop them insulting something considered holy by Muslims.
