We all know about black holes. These are weird objects which were until very recently unseen.

So I start the discussion with a question?
Can our sun be turned into a blackhole? If so how and what will be the size (radius / diameter)
If not then explain why?

Note: Please write in your own words ..don't copy paste stuff from internet except links and figure.
Have a nice discussion...

NO it cannot become a black hole.

20 Sun mass is required for a super nova. which is a prerequisite
Additional mass is required for black hole.

I appreciate your attempt but sorry to say sir your answer is not correct.

If our sun is converted into a black hole all of us here on Earth would freeze to death

Don't worry, most probably it won't convert into a blackhole but it will end in approx. 5 billion years.

well i guess technically if we shrink the sun to a diameter of few kilometer (hundred ?) , keeping its mass constant , it will rupture the space time sheet and become a blackhole . But in reality it will not form a black hole as it is simply not massive enough .
Our sun will simply run out of fuel and will die peacefully and become a white dwarf

black hole is something from which nothing escapes. that is the explanation I received as a 8 year old

You're right except not few hundred kms but only 6 km in dia.
And yes the sun needs almost 40-50% more mass to turn into a black hole naturally.

What are you ? high school student ?
www.google.com
You are wrong. Don't run to uncle google, as I said in the start..discuss it in your own words. And correct answers have already been provided and other members had good discussion. But you are getting rude and impolite which is neither necessary nor welcomed.

google !
still sore from the last time huh ....

I have not studied much astronomy. I am sad and ashamed to say that
No need to be ashamed. Not everyone has to know everything. You'r still young and if you're interested you can learn about.
I did't know much about it either but recent events have spurred my interest in this field and I have started to study and wrote some simple fun codes.. Now I can calculate how an object can be turned into a blackhole etc based on the Einstein's theory of general relativity :)
