TIB: India, China forcing Bangladesh to set up coal-fired plants

Share of coal in the electricity generation - China - 65%, India - 75%, Bangladesh - ?

Electricity consumption per capita per year - China - 4,475 kWh, India - 1,122 kWh, Bangladesh - 351 kWh

Bangladeshis protesting against coal power to save the environment is the cutest thing ever. Not just that. India and China are forcing poor BD to go for dirty dirty coal! Won't anybody think about the pristine nature of BD?! The greenery. The unspoiled air and water. The gut wrenching poverty.

(At least you guys included China in the list. Usually it's always India's fault. Thanks.)

Installed Capacity of Bangladesh Power Plants as of September 2019

Fuel Type__Capacity(Unit)______Total(%)

Coal______ 524.00 MW________2.75 %
Gas ______10015.00 MW ______52.55 %
HFO ______4888.00 MW ______25.65 %
HSD ______2205.00 MW ______11.57 %
Hydro _____230.00 MW _______1.21 %
Imported __1160.00 MW ______6.09 %
Solar ______35.00 MW ________0.18 %
Total ______19057.00 MW

Bangladeshis are a little more aware of the f*ck-ups (on a massive scale) done by India's lack of powerplant planning and how they polluted the once pristine natural environment in India using cheap local coal as fuel for locally built low-tech power plants since the British left. Maybe it'd be appropo to ask the sahibs to come back and fix the f*ck-ups. :-)

We definitely don't see India as our role model in this area, far from it. Indian coal by the way (like most everything else in India) is low-quality low-energy garbage meant for local consumption. Bangladesh will probably end up using Indonesian or Australian (BHP) coal and also use the highest efficiency Japanese coal technology currently used there. We care about our environment a bit more, given how much water there is in our terrain.

We have also written this (using higher quality coal and scrubbing tech for environmental discharge) into the contract for even Chinese coal powerplants, which are a good deal more advanced than Indian coal plants. Heck in India itself, the Chinese are building massive powerplants. Even Indians don't care about using local coal powerplant technology - it is so effed up and backdated.

One massive mistake was letting Indians start building a coal plant near the Sundarbans (a contract gained after much begging to Bangladesh and predictably which they haven't even started building in earnest, after half a decade), which flouts every environmental principle in the book, by discharging effluents into waterways with sensitive wildlife habitat. Typically Indian, turning a blind eye to the environment as always, like their record in India itself.

It is common knowledge that India's power consumption is dominated by inefficient corrupt industrial usage, and access to electricity by India's poor and rural populations is marginal. It is not Bangladesh's fault that India's electricity distribution infrastructure is so effed up. Please go research it first before commenting, if you can afford the internet usage fee using your cheap smartphone...;)

.
By the way - about the subject of 'gut-wrenching' Bangladeshi poverty, average poverty rates in Bangladesh and India are roughly similar, 57% for India and 58% for us.

But interestingly, our economic journey started from scratch in 1971 after Indians looted us clean - taking away every piece of industrial machinery as war booty from all our factories.

India has been independent since 1947. Says something about Indian economic achievement.

For niceties' sake, we shouldn't go into poverty rates in BIMARU states such as BIHAR and MP. The less said the better....

Imported __1160.00 MW ______6.09 %

So Bangladesh imports 6% of its electricity from India. Interesting.

Bangladesh will probably end up using Indonesian or Australian (BHP) coal and also use the highest efficiency Japanese coal technology currently used there.

Australian, Indonesian, Martian...doesn't matter. I am sure environment conscious groups will torpedo all plan.

You care too much about facts for these types born utterly deficient and stay that way.

They emigrate to richest countries in the world, and still do worse than Haitians (US census data). What you expect them to do in their own swamp? LOL....they just wait for LDC globalist mono-handouts like with RMG and count their inflation as "growth" lol...so they can feel better and borrow more money in short term....given no one in their right mind invests anything meaningful (forget about BD then investing in others to get somewhere that matters) and no one does anything of actual note for economic activity within their joke musical chairs "95% seats won" and "3 million waah" BAL soap opera drama swamp.

In the time pass they then bitch and moan and generaly let their ingrate nature +victimhood complex shine through...just the other party alternates between India, Pakistan, China, West, Myanmar....whomever.

But I kid you not these ppl consume less than 5 times per capita the smartphones that India does:

https://defence.pk/pdf/threads/bang...ates-discussions.418207/page-66#post-11512769

and buy like 20,000 clunker cars a year (for population of 170+ million) and "assemble" a grand total of like 500:

Train travel?

https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/IS.RRS.PASG.KM?locations=BD-IN

Air travel?

https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/IS.AIR.PSGR?locations=IN-BD

Please factor in the population sizes all you want to....still comes out LDC terribad for them.

So forget things like steel, energy, market cap....or heck even poverty:

http://hdr.undp.org/sites/default/files/mpi_2019_table_1.pdf

Whenever you look at any direct basic consumption parameter, the stark whittling away the inflation does on the claimed growth becomes more and more apparent (its why their corrupt govt stays well away from reforms and actually joining global standards on anything finance related in world).

Only very few of them realise the problem and speak up:

https://opinion.bdnews24.com/2017/12/18/where-did-the-benefits-of-economic-growth-disappear/

You wont find those sane, fact-based types here. Just a typical douchebag illegal overstaying in some "sanctuary-city" in caliturdia....having to explain to all sundry that bangladesh isn't some city in India...a common problem for them it seems:

https://defence.pk/pdf/threads/indi...-freedom-fighters.627606/page-4#post-11637635

So you can imagine he needs yet another sanctuary for his feelings here. Reality is cruel.

Er...I am not that pessimistic about BD. Unlike Pakistan at least they seem to be on the right track. In fact I would say it's better to employ lots of poor labors for a pittance in the RMG/Shoe/Toy sector in a country like BD than a smaller number of skilled workers in a sector like automobiles.

But their key bottleneck is infra, particularly electricity (and roads). Without massively adding to their current generating capacity their growth will soon hit a ceiling. Which is why I find these "Save Aarey" tier protests hilarious. When it comes to electricity, coal is still king.

Apart from fertile land, some natural gas and fish, BD has virtually no natural resource and is burdened with a huge population. The task is hard.

Meh, they are just trolling. I don't think they are serious.

I used to think like you too....but I have long moved on. There is a toxic cabal here that deserve no sparing, but just brutal reality check whenever its required.

Leave the better meaningful optimistic talk for those BD ppl outside of this place in real life. They are generally far more deserving of benefit of doubt.
