Three Hizbul Militants Killed, Two Security Men Injured

Three Hizbul Mujahideen militants were today killed and two security force personnel received minor injuries during an encounter in Pulwama district of Kashmir, officials said.

Security forces launched a search operation at Buchoo village in Tral area of Pulwama following information about presence of militants there, they said.

The house where the ultras were hiding was cordoned off and they were asked to surrender, they said.

However, the militants refused to surrender and opened fire on the security forces, which was retaliated.

In the ensuing encounter, three militants were killed, a defence spokesman said.

A police official said two security force jawans got minor injuries during the operation.

The slain militants - all affiliated to Hizbul Mujahideen - have been identified as Adil Mir, Adil Shah and Tariq Parray, the official said.

Three AK rifles and some ammunition have been recovered from the site of the encounter.

No I can not. And can you prove beyond the shadow of doubt that all the alleged militants killed in Balochistan and NWFP are always militants. I can do post links to the cases of mass graves, forced disappearance of Balochi civilians and about your ex COAS apologizing for killing dozens of unarmed civilians in an air strike and calling them militants in the beginning before being caught out and having to apologize.

Top LeT commander arrested in J&K - The Hindu

The militant, code named Abu Hanzalla, from Multan in Pakistan, was active in South Kashmir in the last two years and was a deputy of the most wanted LeT chief in Kashmir Abu Qasim.
In a joint operation early on Friday, the Jammu and Kashmir Police and security forces arrested a Pakistani militant operating as Lashkar-e-Taiba “district commander” in Kulgam area of South Kashmir.

The Hindu learned from official sources that the Special Operations Group of Kulgam District Police with the units from Rashtriya Rifles 62 battalion and Central Reserve Police 18 battalion arrested Mohammad Naveed Jat alias Chhotu, code named Abu Hanzalla, of Boriwal Sahiwal, Multan, from a hideout before he could escape or open fire.

The militant from Punjab Province of Pakistan was active in South Kashmir in the last two years and was a deputy of the most wanted LeT chief in Kashmir Abu Qasim.

Abu Hanzalla, now under sustained interrogation of the police and security forces, is believed to be involved in planning and executing a number of attacks including some on the soft targets. Even before the sustained interrogation, he admitted to have killed two Special Police Officers outside the District Court in Pulwama during the Lok Sabha elections. He also divulged how he fired on a police party in Shopian when five policemen and civilians sustained injuries and Abu Hanzalla with two local associates escaped.
