Thousands protest against Gilgit-Baltistan Order 2018, condemn Chief Minister for ‘misleading masses’
May 25, 2018 Pamir Times 0 Comments

Gilgit: Thousands of people in Skardu and Gilgit protested against the Gilgit-Baltistan Order 2018. The protesters said that final draft of the GB Order is mysteriously being kept secret, because the authorities are afraid of telling the truth to the public. The speakers said that the GB Order has become suspicious because of the culture of secrecy.

Responding to a protest call given by a coalition of political organizations, thousands of people came out to reject the GB Order 2018, which claims to empower the region administratively and financially.

Speakers also bashed the Chief Minister accusing him of constantly telling lies and misleading the masses, ‘to please his masters.’

Some speakers in Skardu and Gilgit alleged that the Chief Minister has colluded with the Kashmiri leaders to conspire against Gilgit-Baltistan, and keep the region deprived.

The speakers in Gilgit included Opposition Leader in GBLA Captain (r) Shafi, BNF leader Nawaz Naji, PPP’s Javed Hussain, ITP’s Sheikh Mirza Ali, Awami Action Committee’s Sultan Raees, PTI’s Raja Jahanzeb and Fatahullah Khan, among others.

The protest was jointly organized by AWP, BNF, , ITP, PPP, PTI, Awami Action Committee, and a large number of nationalist, religious and progressive organizations.

The GB Order 2018 has yet to be made public. Majority of the GBLA members have also not seen the order. GBLA Speaker Fida Nashad had directed the government to present the order in the assembly, but his direction was ignored, while the opposition members boycotted the session, and protested in front of the parliament house in Islamabad.

An earlier version leaked on social media has been called ‘fake and bogus’ by the Chief Minister and some members of his kitchen cabinet.

Police action against protesters leaves several injured in Gilgit
May 26, 2018 Pamir Times 0 Comments

Gilgit: Gilgit Police fired tear gases on protesters near the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly, injuring several people, including some of the leaders of the joint opposition. The protesters clashed with the police who had blocked the roads and erected barricades around the GBLA building in Chinar Bagh, where the protesters wanted to stage a sit-in.

The protesters are opposing the Gilgit-Baltistan Order 2018, which claims to empower the region administratively and financially, but falls short of the people’s expectations.

Maulana Sultan Raee, Chairman of Awami Action Committee, and Raja Jahanzeb, PTI’s only member in the assembly, were among those who sustained injuries and were hospitalized.

Meanwhile, the joint opposition has submitted an application with the police, demanding registration of First Information Report against the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary, IGP and SSP, accusing them of “firing bullets and tear gases” on the peaceful protesters.

They always vote for party in power. For a start Gilgit and rest of Pakistan should have election on the same day.

It isn't because we voted for pmln . its just that there is massive rigging done by the fedral government aka the ruling party which leads to such a turnover.

Order was enough, legislation not needed for GB empowerment: PM Khaqan Abbasi
May 27, 2018 Pamir Times 0 Comments

PM Abbasi had today claimed that there’s no difference between the rights of the citizens of Gilgit-Baltistan and Pakistan. He has said that there was no need for any legislation to empowerment Gilgit-Baltistan.

An order was enough, he said.

Opposition members of the assembly tore copies of the GB Order 2018 into pieces and walked out of the assembly, in the presence of the prime minister.

A PMLN lawmaker, Maj (r) Amin attacked opposition member Raja Jahanzeb, who is one of the leaders of the United Opposition, leading to a scuffle on the floor or the house.

Complete Shutter-Down Strike in Gilgit on the call of Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajiran (Central Trade Union), and the United Opposition, Awami Action Committee.

The strike was observed while Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi landed in Gilgit city to address a joint session of the GBLA and GB Council.

The region has been engulfed in protest for three days against the Gilgit-Baltistan Order 2018, which has become controversial, despite of promising administrative and financial autonomy for the region.

Prime Minister Abbasi is expected to announce promulgation of the GB Order, despite of the reservations shown by tens of thousands of people.

Nawaz scared of Modi/India. Nawaz want to keep Modi happy by not making GB province. On the other hand Indian is fanning all type of separatist movement in GB. Nawaz was one hell of stupid politician. If any issue bring to limelight , his disqualification 24/7, but never talk about major national issue..... all day one single mantra " mujha kyun nikala " ...

. . .
What ever the case few bad years will result in a more acrid response from GB on key matters the next GB govt could be another BAP which will be patriotic but will put interest of its province first
