Sikhs weren’t innocent either. Their empire turned our masjids into horse stables and oppressed Muslims. Still as you mentioned, Muslim Punjabis fought for the rights of everyone no matter what the religion because Islam teaches us to be Just. Also many crimes attributed to the Mughals are falsified especially to Aurangzeb R.H. Mughals were probably the most lenient Muslim empire.
