Punjab Food Authority has directed the companies making tea whiteners to mention “This is not milk” clearly on the packing of their product. Punjab Food Authority has passed this legislation because the tea whiteners are not suitable for consumption especially for children. In addition, the warning at the packet will also help the consumer to distinguish between actual milk and tea whitener. 11 tea whitener brands have added the warning in their new packing which has been approved by Punjab Food Authority. After June first, no company will be allowed to sell tea whiteners without having the line of “This is not milk”. Companies with previous stock will have to use stickers on their product packing stating this is not milk.
