Former head of Northern Command of Indian army Lieutenant General (R) DS Hoda has said that Pakistan enjoys widespread support in the Kashmir valley.

In an interview with BBC Urdu the retired General spoke of the popularity Pakistan enjoys in the Kashmirvalley saying, “There is a lot of support for Pakistan. The Indian army’s role is to bring the security situation at a level that encourages political activity within the state of Jammu and Kashmir.”

He said Kashmir issue has no military solution and the issue can be only solved through bilateral talks.

“If we say that the Kashmir issue has a martial solution, it will be false. The issue is an internal and multifaceted issue,” he said.

Talking over the issue of “surgical strikes” the retired army General said, “After detailed consultations prior to the strikes we concluded that an all-out war with Pakistan cannot be triggered, and so we decided to execute our plan and take some risk.”

“The Indian Army was ready to deal with any situation in Kashmir. I cannot share the details but a lot of detailed discussions were held at the army headquarters. It wasn’t that we all of a sudden decided to carry out a surgical strike. We had been planning for quite a time.”

So what?
We have 360,000 strong field army supported by 150,000 paramilitary forces in that state.
So even if 100% support Pakistan it is of no consequence.

Of course, no one in their right mind would deny that. Let the Indians delude themselves that it is a "handful of stone pelters" or "foreign trained terrorists". The Kashmiri resistance consists of the ordinary Kashimiris and is an indigenous struggle against the oppressors. The truth has been spoken.

That is why we call it "Indian occupied Kashmir" because the local people don't want to live with India. You won't find anything similar in our administered part of Kashmir - be it Azad Kashmir or Gilgit Baltistan (formerly Northern Areas).

How is it any of our problem, if you are mutant and proud? How in response to an "on ground" general 's admission and deep analysis of the problem that there is no military solution to this problem and keeping massive number of forces in the area accomplishes little, your only reply is a childish so what.

where was that support during operation gibraltor in 65? kashmiris reported the locations and activities of mujahideens from pak to indian army and police. kashmir will stay like this for a long time to come. pak cant liberate kashmir by force . they dont have a will to do so either. politicians on both sides of the border are doing their politics on kashmir. the armies are getting huge budgets by maintaining the status quo in kashmir. the world powers are also happy by selling huge amount of weapons to both idiots i.e india and pak. someone should ask this question from the military of both india and pak that what they have gained by the LOC firing for past 2 years? it is a simple and logical question and i am sure military spokesmen from both armies wont be having any logical answer to this question.
