What's new

The United States has no qualms about the winner in the national election: US Ambassador

Don't worry as Hasina is almost indestructible these days. :p:

If she needs extra firepower then even Modi is on her side.
Ask your Hasina Bibi to contest in a fair election to see if her BAL party wins even 30 seats. A fair election will certainly be held this time in 2023.

An astute observation - kind Sir!

Sheikh Rehana's son operates an well-oiled IT-cell machine from London....

No less well-funded than Godi Media and almost as prolific. 8-)
I wish the two family enterprises BAL and BNP are banished after the next election. But, while Tareque the thief is alone working from London, I sometimes see many many younger generation Shaikhs. One is Shaikh Porosh. Another is Shaikh Taposh. There are others like them.

What kind of names do people in BD choose for their sons and daughters nowadays? Na Ghar ka na Ghaat Ka? All mismatches. BD Muslims are getting away from their past culture. Chandan, Hridoy, etc.

The standard has always been first, last (which are Muslim names) followed by a short nickname of Bengali (i.e. Pali/Sanskrit origin).

Some uneducated people run out of classy names and start naming their kids after weird things (i.e. "Dollar Bhai", "Boltu Bhai").

Also - strange names found nowhere else in any other Muslim country - "Musammat Morzina Begom" ....

Some film stars change their names to appear more classy -

Mohammad Zahirullah became Zahir Raihan (he made Pakistan's first color film, Sangam)

Hena Bhattacharya became Nilufar Begum (adopting Islam) after she married Zahir Raihan, then adopted the filmi name Sumita Devi.

In more recent times,

Sharmin Akter Nipa became Mahiya Mahi

Shamsun Nahar Smrity became Pori Moni.

Speaking of weird names:

Does US have a “fair electorate system”?

Both bush and Trump became president despite losing the vote by millions.

African Americans are systematically denied the vote by all manner of shenanigans like:

1. Making it hard to register
2. Offering fewer places to vote and middle of nowhere. Leading to hours of queues in scorching heat.
3. Tricking voters with leaflets that change the date and places to vote.
4. Hounding NGOs that help poor to register to vote

Etc etc

Pot calling the kettle black!!!

US only gives BD money because they are terrified that China will build a naval base In Chittagong hahaha
I am not sure how much it is true or conspiracy theory from Black nationalists of US or if true how much it is a US govt. policy or malpractices of the local politicians. But Bangladesh and other countries should highlight these irregularities in US election system if true. And US and other countries should also speak up against lack of Democracy in Bangladesh. This is the only way forward. If every one of us stay silent because we are not perfect then bad practice will not be removed from anywhere. Democracy flourishes in debate and open talk and die in hush-hush and censorship.

No democratic country in the world is 100 percent democratic, US is certainly not. But fault in democracy should not be an excuse to abandon it's ideals and go for dictatorship, autocracy or other forms of tyranny. Though US has many faults, still it is one of the great democratic countries. Half of the democratic countries in the world modeled their democratic institutions on US model. Until Donald Trump, US election was free from any major controversy. US has powerful independent media which even made Richard Nixon to step down from Presidency. It exposed US war excess in Vietnam and Iraq and mobilized American public opinion against war. Is it possible in Russia, China and even in socalled biggest Democratic country, India?

A beggar’s hand remains lower than the donor’s hand, you have been contaminated by Alga Momen disease.

If you guys are so eager to show pride, why seek Western helps in every occasion? Think of only Rohinga. The USA has so far donated $1.5 billion. BD remains a big basket case, shamefully.

Refund this and many other billions before you criticize America.

Well said.

Some of these AL uzboogs have seen garments lift Bangladesh out of abject poverty (microwaves. aircons and refrigerators in villages etc.) and now think AL can give lessons to the US or other countries on democracy, governance etc.

This is so laughable, like a frog in a puddle training to describe an ocean.

Bangladesh is the friggin' third world - still....get to Indonesia, Malaysia or Thailand level first. Bunch of gadhas.

Even Alga Momen is parroting this immature boastful Hasina garbage giving democracy and governance lessons to Blinken in the US. Friggin' hilarious joke....

Someone should get that through AL's uneducated sotolok dom, koch and charal people's heads and remind them where they stand in the evolutionary process of civilizations.

All one has to do is either stand at any traffic intersection in Dhaka and look at how many people are obeying traffic signals. That will tell you what the uneducated populace feels about law and order and how their govt. is handling it. Long way to go.....

@bluesky bhai, @Homo Sapiens bhai was praising American democratic model, not criticizing it.

The US still remains far better in application of democracy to their governance than many countries, despite flaws.

I live here, I know.

Bhai, I write to you from India, the "world's most populous democracy", and I tell you that neither USA nor India are democracies. Please read this post of mine. :)

If some Bangladeshi users believe that if Hasina needs extra firepower then she has Modi , then they are living in fool's paradise! :hitwall:

Can you bet your house on it?
