Despite of all the issue of Taiwan independent movement by US and the group of Japan-worshiper Taiwanese. Taiwan is still seeing themselves as China, a province of China (but not part of Communist).
It's actually pretty simple logic. But many of the mainlanders I encountered, fail to understand it. For them China = Communist. Then the confusing discussion part will follow after that, all the time...
