If you only knew. One must create time for things one is passionate about
are you a bit of a hermit too, really like your solo time etc ?If you only knew.
I am a learning junkie (if that's a word). I love learning about most stuff there is to learn about. I prefer practical stuff that I can use in real life but all knowledge is good knowledge. Unfortunately, it's been very hard since after I finished my studies and started working. No time for dedicating myself to anything. Used to play games and read a lot of books. Not anymore. Looking forward to retirement so I can finally bust open some books and some games, because it ain't happening any time soon
Web. Did some PHP work when I started out. Bit of wordpress (found it insanely hard), some CodeIgnitor. Been doing shopify for some 2 years now. Planning to get some proper skills under my belt, like React but can never commit due to work. I've started learning it 4 times during the last 1.5 years but couldn't continue every single time.@Drexluddin Khan Spiveyzai What kind of developer are you?
That's how I grew up (literally). Me and my only love, my PC.are you a bit of a hermit too, really like your solo time etc ?
@_NOBODY_ , what about yourself?Web. Did some PHP work when I started out. Bit of wordpress (found it insanely hard), some CodeIgnitor. Been doing shopify for some 2 years now. It's hard when you are doing one thing for a living and learning another on the side. If I got a menial job working in React today, I'd learn it fast, but I happen to like the money I am making with Shopify.

Okay. WAY too many people got that reference than I was expecting. Where were you all during my childhood. I could never find someone who played Age of Empires. It's was all Vice City this, Vice City that. You're telling me the Mayans, Aztecs and Inca people sounds Age of Empires sounds were fake?
My childhood was a lie.
One must create time for things one is passionate about. Plus, I wish to pursue data science so it is essential to know other fields so I can use data science in those fields. Data Science can be used in fields such as history, archaeology, anthropology, paleontology, ethnology etc. However, at the moment, I have little to no interest in using data science in these fields.
The evolution of languages is not an area that I pay a lot of attention to so it would be inappropriate for me to comment on that. Perhaps @ThunderCat can shed some light on this topic.
No wonder your soul has been devoured.Web. Did some PHP work when I started out.
Well that was a brief encounter. I have all but forgotten PHP. I work with JS primarily now. Make of that what you will.No wonder your soul has been devoured.
Before thinking about picking up skills, ask yourself what you want to do in life and why you want to do it. Try exploring the in-demand and upcoming technologies; additionally, make sure to observe the trends in the industry. No one size fits all. One must be cognitively predisposed toward a certain type of work/business/job profile in order to truly realize their potential. One may excel beyond all expectations in area A but be totally out of sorts in area B of whatever blah. Before thinking about picking up skills, ask yourself what you want to do in life and why you want to do it. If you don't like web development then ditch it. There are so many other fields in CS. Have you explored AI, Data Science and cybersecurity? By the way, there are so many new things happening in the web development scene. I discovered Elixir today. Apparently, it is a dynamic, functional programming language, is designed for building scalable and maintainable applications with a simple, modern, and tidy syntax.
Virus mian is right here. I actually like electrical stuff a lot, thought I hated studying physics so I went with ICS (Statistics) in College. There's a difference between studying and learning. I absolutely enjoyed learning about physics and even mathematics. But studying for exams put me off of physics. No one size fits all.
