You forgot the fact that, your own accent is a mix up of French, Spanish, native American and English all mixed in a huge orgy and the baby which was born is the current American accent..
If you have doubts, pls refer what the Brits have to say about your accent.. If at all anyone has a saying in terms English accent it should be the Brits, not you Yankees..
