The problem of Stray Dogs & Cats in South Asia

.
Strays are fed regularly here, in all of India to be exact. We don't deal with the animal abusers kindly.

Yeah, and ignore the genocide of cats that Maneka Gandhi started in the late 90s.

. .

Cats are also fed man.

Most bungalows are zoos here in Poona.

It is not about just feeding them. It is about ensuring that they have an atmosphere where they are comfortable and thriving. A society where the cat is comfortable and thrives is a society which has intellectually and spiritually evolved. This is because of humans internalizing the calm and wise ways of the cat.

In India cats were generally living not so bad before that accursed Maneka Gandhi became whatever minister in the late 90s and declared that stray dogs should not be eliminated by municipal authorities.

Two decades later there are 35+ million stray dogs in India who have killed off most of the cats in Indian cities. Dogs kill cats by torture and the sound of a so-being-killed cat is one of the saddest sounds there is.

The hugely increased number of dogs in the country has also led to a change among the humans too because of internalizing the traits of the dog which are generally cruelty and noise while being in gangs. Humans in India have become even more callous and criminal and there have been side-effects like increased religiosity.

Also, you and @Axomiya_lora being doctors will know that India has the largest number of dog attacks against humans and the largest number of rabies cases. You will know of cases where dogs have entered hospitals and carried away infants to eat them. You will know of cases in the Maharashtra town of Beed were certain doctors are keeping dogs so that these dogs will eat away the human female fetuses that these doctors have illegally aborted.

In places like Bangalore there are fancy eateries where one can take one's dog. In Bangalore and Madras there are fancy hotels / lodges for dogs in a country where there are countless homeless humans. The newly rich middle classes feed stray dogs in their localities while many humans go hungry.

Does Maneka Gandhi think about all this ??

Indians frankly just generally loath the idea of Pakistan. To most Indians, when you speak of Pakistanis they will describe a bearded terrorist so immersed in Islam that nothing else matters. And given half the chance most Indians will openly declare that they wish that the entire of Pakistan could be wiped off the map. When I speak of Indians I make no distinction between Indians of different religions. If anything unites Indians then it's certainly their disgust and loathing of Pakistan and it's existence

As I said in another thread earlier today, I being an Indian I have no automatic hatred of Pakistan and there are quite a few like me. As an example, Pakistani TV serials found good acceptance in India.

Those abusing dogs including you @jamahir deserve a special place in hell, if there is ever one.

A dog lover is can be a cat lover too, so don't you conflate between the two.

Feral dog packs need to be culled. I'm with you on that.

Cats are around. In the same numbers. They are just not seen on the ground. Literally.

But you are correct in one way. Because of the protection of man, a dog's pup has no natural predator. Not so for kittens.

Once a cat learns how to climb, its near impossible for a dog or even a pack of dogs to get it.

There are natural born cat killers however. I used to have one. A beautiful lazy irish setter called Dopey.

I've lost count of the number of times he came up to me happily wagging his tail with a gift of a broken cat in his jaws. He never used to eat it. And no amount of scolding him and shrieks of the women and kids would convince him that a cat was not a good kingly gift for his alpha pack leader.

Me.

Exactly.

Very rare though for cat lovers to be dog lovers.

I've seen a few though. Never Muslims.

What @jamahir does not get is that it is the instinct of a dog to kill a cat. Because in the wold, cats are the ones killing them. Much bigger cats.

Its a species conflict. Man should not step in like a blundering fool.

I will tell you who should see hell.

People like Maneka Gandhi who allow stray dogs to carry away and tear apart children, face and limb... these kind of callous people should be put into a stadium, the dogs introduced, gates closed and let the tearing apart begin. All on live TV.

Correct.

Well, once a dog pack has seen a cat they can decide to trap the cat in a roadside gutter or within a compound.

But yes, I used to teach my baby cats to climb on the wire mesh on the terrace. They lived there in a shelter I made for them.

He never used to eat it.

Yeah, generally dogs kill cats for fun.

But if we can decide to save the pandas or gorillas why can't we save the smaller cats ??

Doc, i have adopted a couple of strays from my colony(who live and sleep with us in our bedroom) and an Indian Spitz(female) lent to us by my colleague who had to change places. Absolutely well behaved, no bickering, the Spitz rules the roost despite being of a smaller stature, quite feisty in fact. The cats i provide for never had any problems with our dogs.

It all boils down to how we raise them, right?

Yeah, dogs kill cats for human. Something inbuilt into them.

A cat very very very rarely gets cornered. And even when cornered, is well able to face off with a dog momentarily before it gives him the slip. I think youve never lived in a dog and cat mixed household like I have.

And no. Dogs do not kill cats for humans alone.

They kill cats because they are hardwired to recognizing cats as the killers of their pups, and themselves.

Have you seen videos of leopards pulling dogs from apartment complexes in Mumbai?

I don't know man. Ive heard of dogs and cats coexisting. But we have a large compound. And my dogs are always let loose outside to guard it. They are big and territorial and not house dogs.

They will kill the cats we feed if they fall into their strike range.

Yes ..... and one such persistent CRISIS is Pakistan.:lol::lol:

In times of war (Kargil sneak) or terrorism (Mumbai) yes.

But most other times you are at the periphery.

The current sanghi brigade loves our own Muslims too much for much attention to be shared elsewhere.
