New COAS should remove all controversial faces from his force and generate simple tweets where he endorses fresh elections for exit from this ongoing turmoil. We all want our forces respected not rejected.

The only way out is elections held right away. Army is necessary for Pakistan but needs deep reforms to be held accountable.

But we also cannot forget the judiciary, bureaucracy, politicians, or other elite elements. These need total reforms too.

Heck PTI political structure needs reforms and to setup an organic setup that raises new crops of leaders. It cannot be run ad hoc like this- if IK is offed what will happen?

I agree. A reset is needed. I just don't see that happening.... I believe the Pakistani establishment's calculus here is they can keep the system status quo as long as they are able to destroy any opposition and through brutal oppression... The public masses who opposes the Corruption will eventually be subdued.

They have been getting away with it till now... All that is needed is a general cleanup of instigators and elimination of the head... I.e. murder of Imam Khan. And ISI and COAS can go back to their old game of good cop (military establishment) versus bad cop (politicians). And the public buys the BS.

What if an election is held and the losing side starts agitating "Stolen Election"? As soon as one starts wavering on established laws and Constitution, a State starts melting down. U.K. has had 5 Prime Ministers in 6 years, but no one is agitating "Imported Government" (though the present P.M. is an Asian).

Pak needs a institution which all politicians are scared off, which can hold them to account for corruption and breaking the law. Army has been that but their collusion is so bad they are not held accountable.
