What's new

The most civilized traffic, nobody honks, no one in a mad rush...Islamabad.

I hope this news is not correct.

CDA stopped the chopping of 40 year old pine trees on main Jinnah avenue, when the BRTS corridor was constructed in the PMLN govt, they want to add another lane at the cost of several hundred Pine trees and that was stopped even with huge pressure exerted for a 4th lane which was not needed.

Yes about 200 trees were chopped on Embassy road, Isb. Stopped after SC order and public pressure. Have seen CDA demolishing any structure constructed on green area overnight, to encroach it. Yes many areas around Islamabad encroached by land mafia(not the proper city) has been retrieved by the current PTI govt.

It's been a while seen you, welcome back.
Islamabad is a beautiful but it can be made made even more beautiful. If we plant more trees around the capital area, it will become even more pleasant.

.
Definitely Thimfu is far better than anything its bigger neighbour India can boast of but Islamabad is a different category altogether. It is the second most beautiful capital in the WORLD.
Being capital of one of the worlds poorest country, it surely did a lot better than any other city in the entire south asian region. And with new money coming in from exports, it will lead to grow better then some of known european tourist destinations.,

Looks good, Thimpu Bhutan surroundings are good, green and nice, the city in the valley lacks wide wooded avenues and boulevards, and looks cluttered and not in grids.

Yes looks neat and clean, population is about 1 lac 15 thousand, a very small city,
Yes cleaner than most Indian and south Asian cities.

More than being just clean and beautiful, what lies beneath is the strong cultural hold.
Everyone wears the national dress, people are very polite, respectful and thankful.
Majority of shops, hotels and other business entities are run and managed by females. True women empowerment and safety of its citizens. Followed by free and compulsory education for all. Free medical benefits. In near therm this will surely lead towards building a very healthy and educated society.

Yeah but there are several such towns in Pakistan, especially in KPK and Northern areas. BTW most cities look great in aerial pic especially if it is located in scenic mountainous valley. But a city has to have a lot more than an aerial view to be regarded among even top 100 cities of the world.

There are villages of same size in GB, more scenic, cleaner and run by women ... so what's the point.

He is the best person as President and field Marshal Pakistan has ever had, visionary, modern, classy and thoroughly a gentleman, and with lot of pride...left government and the job after criticism and when he thought that it was about time to leave and didn't stick to his power and pelf, unheard of in this part of the world.

Developed Tarbela dam, Mangla dam, Warsak also I think.

Developed the Korangi Industrial area in Karachi with housing for labors, developed PINSTECH, Isb.

Ironically, started the construction of East Pakistan national assembly building in Dacca in 65(hired Architect Le Corbusier) still is a testimony to his pluralism, and was planning to construct a nuclear reactor on the pattern of KANUPP Karachi in East Pakistan.

Many other projects started by Pres. Ayub Khan which I haven't mentioned...

Good going Islamabad, keep it up.
I hope this city tops Paris and one day I can visit it as tourist and enjoy the hospitality.
If you have French passport, then it may not be difficult for you to visit. Current govt made big changes in to the visa policy lately..making it easy and fairly straightforward.. previously it was a hell for a foreign tourist to get visa.

It's been a while seen you, welcome back.
yup, it was... thank you :-)

I agree there are plenty scenic towns and villages across the globe. And for sure Kashmir and GB have abundance of nature.

I rated Thimpu above Islamabad based on many things that I found much better compared to Islamabad. Rest is all personal opinion. I have seen a lot of Islamabad in videos and video calls with friends based out there, where as I have seen Thimpu in personal.

Islamabad City 2019, Pakistan Virtual Tour

Drive through the city of Islamabad Starting at Kashmir Highway Onto the Constitution Avenue Passing through all the landmarks Towards Aga Khan Road Then to Faisal Mosque Ending at Sector F-6

Green and Clean, colors are a bit subdued, Islamabad has maintained the green and clean characteristic of the city and unbridled commercialization has not destroyed the city. A few of the roads can be actually narrowed down with added wider green area...No other city in subcontinent like Islamabad. Nobody honks and no one is in a mad rush, a bit slower speed is better to get the best views.
