What's new

The most civilized traffic, nobody honks, no one in a mad rush...Islamabad.

.
Few people knew about it, more than 6 million (60 lacs) trees were planted in Islamabad when the city was planned, so there are many times more trees than the population of the city which is less than 2 million...and over a period of years many lacs more trees were also planted in newer areas and sectors.

Islamabad have fragrant clean air and one can feel the freshness there, shows the importance of trees and open wooded areas...

And more smaller cities need to be planned on the pattern of Islamabad, just replicate the city master plan with some additional changes to get the burden off from Islamabad, otherwise new sectors and unbridled growth in population will destroy the serenity of the city in coming years.

Nothing can be more important than trees and lots and lots of them for a clean and green environment...Lahore and Karachi and other cities need to follow Islamabad city pattern. Can be done it is not about money, it is about willingness and sincerity. Trees hardly need any money like fountains and roads/flyovers, other expensive infrastructure....but are more important than any of these.

Let's plant more trees as individuals and make the air clean and the surroundings healthy and disease free. More trees means less disease and a healthy lifestyle, less lungs and respiratory related problems, longer healthy life...everyone plant more trees in their homes, in whatever space available....

This video always amazes me...the green and clean characteristic of the city, abundance of wooded areas, lots of civic sense and everything looks so calm and serene...can smell the fragrant fresh air.

ALLAH SWT bless Pakistan and all humans with better sense to care for others and resources - (AMEEN).

Good going Islamabad, keep it up.
I hope this city tops Paris and one day I can visit it as tourist and enjoy the hospitality.
I am pretty sure Paris does not have hills like these;

I love my city

It is not just about development and constructing big buildings and 5 lane roads at the cost of green areas, it is more about preservation than destruction disguised as development.

Islamabad has been able to preserve that green and clean characteristic even with some commercialization in Blue area and some other sectors.

This was all good but the corrupt officials of CDA and mayor have been colluding with the timber mafia has several thousand tree have been felled and sold in the black and open markets.

.
I would rate Thimpu over it, we if consider south asian region.
In Thimpu, no one honks, everyone uses zebra crossing. And traffic stops if someone stands by zebra crossing. Unless he crosses the road, no automobile moves or honks. First preference to Humans and Cyclists.

No Cigarette , no litter, no public spiting, its green and very very silent.

I hope this news is not correct.

CDA stopped the chopping of 40 year old pine trees on main Jinnah avenue, when the BRTS corridor was constructed in the PMLN govt, they want to add another lane at the cost of several hundred Pine trees and that was stopped even with huge pressure exerted for a 4th lane which was not needed.

Yes about 200 trees were chopped on Embassy road, Isb. Stopped after SC order and public pressure. Have seen CDA demolishing any structure constructed on green area overnight, to encroach it. Yes many areas around Islamabad encroached by land mafia(not the proper city) has been retrieved by the current PTI govt.

Definitely Thimfu is far better than anything its bigger neighbour India can boast of but Islamabad is a different category altogether. It is the second most beautiful capital in the WORLD.

Looks good, Thimpu Bhutan surroundings are good, green and nice, the city in the valley lacks wide wooded avenues and boulevards, and looks cluttered and not in grids.

Yes looks neat and clean, population is about 1 lac 15 thousand, a very small city,
Yes cleaner than most Indian and south Asian cities.
