The meaning of Pakistan

.
well in Persian, Pak means clean and Stan means province, so Pakistan in Persian means clean province. I'm guessing this name was chosen as an insult to Hindus?
Though it may seem so but that is definitely not the reason of choosing that particular name...but then let Pakistani members cle:Dar that up for u.

hmm.. i would tend to think its more about muslims wanting their homeland to be the way they want(purer, better).. rather than aimed at insulting hindus as such.

Ok , they wanted to purify their land from the Hindus. Any Pakistani wants to elaborate on the name Pakistan? b/c in Persian it means Clean province. like I said, to me it sounds like an insult to Indians.

the name came up in 1933 ... I dont think it was meant that way.... at least I dont know any literature which will support that theory..
some say its an acronym for regions that formed pakistan (bengal is abscent from it though) ...

Punjab, Afghania, Kashmir, Islam, Sindh, and Baluchistan. It means land of the pure.

I'm sorry if that sounded rude. But I don't see any other reason why they would name their new country "clean province".

First of all stan in Persian does not mean province it means country, land, or Place of. Province is Ostan in Farsi. Secondly if we wanted to purify the land of Hindus we failed because 7-9M Hindus are still in Pakistan.
