Regarding Philippines, no offense, Philippines is not a sovereign country. It's not a country actually, it's a union. The law is only valid within Manila.

It is sort of a confederation, similar to Myanmar or China 1911-1949.

The Filipinos are the most pro-US Asian people in their hearts. They will always support the US against China.

In political science perspective, it looks similar. But if you look inside of Philippines politics, there are much more factions.
What's worse:

1. Philippines geography is diverse and scattered
2. Philippines are managed by 200 families, not a single party has a final say.
3. Philippines was conquered by Christian, ideologically and militarily.
4. Philippines economy relies on maidservant export and white sex tourists, and call center.

So Philippines is not a sovereign country, nor confederation. It's a union at best, and feudalism in the shape of western liberal democracy.

There is no place worse than Philippine regarding a country future, because there will be no future.

Unfortunately Duterte is running out of time.

True. But even Duterte is president for life, things won't change much.

What Duterte can do is still within Philippines political framework. He win the heart of Filipinos, he can do something which his predecessor can NOT imagine, but still by and large within political framework.

What is worse, Philippines economy and national security heavily relies on western countries. So if Duterte hurts western power's interest too much, cross the red line, he can NOT withstand.

What Philippines needs, is a Chairman Mao, or Stalin, it's not gonna happen. There is no soil for such kind of revolution.

The fate of Philippines is more or less doomed.
