In reality the Mil Establishment just want a total control of the country for itself, a complete hegemon just as for the last 75 years and using diff. political parties as pawns to further their cause.

If not set up MP under a separate general who reports directly to the president not COAS. This directorate should be given powers, men and equipment to enforce the constitution and bring army and maybe civilian politicians to justice where the law is broken.

I wouldn’t say first time, because similar sentiment was expressed after the death of Fatima Jinnah against Ayub Khan….but that was more person against Gen Ayub Khan and less against the army as a whole. Same goes for Zia and Musharraf.

This is the first time that collectively as an institution they’re being questioned. 4% of Pakistan’s GDP goes to these people, and what have they accomplished?

This is a point of no return IMO for the GHQ. They will either have to do one of the two:

1. Accept the public will and return to the barracks and allow civilian rule to mature.
2. Further entrench yourselves and become a full fledged military -feudal dictatorship.

These are worrying times.
