There are a lot of differences between Punjab, India and Punjab, Pakistan. in 1947 India and Pakistan got separated. Punjab was one big state before separation. Punjab was divided between India and Pakistan after the separation. 5 rivers flow through Punjab. The Punjab area of Pakistan does have all rivers due to its geographical location. This makes the land of Punjab very fertile and it has maximum contribute in the GDP of Pakistan. Indian Punjab does have 3 rivers Sutluj, Beas, Ravi.
Radcliffe is the borderline between India and Pakistan. Sir Cyril Radcliffe did the separation of India and Pakistan so this name is in his owner. Separation was done on a census which was outdated. There were mammoth and riots all over India at the time of separation. But in Punjab, this was worse than hell.
Separation was done because some Muslim demanded a separate country from them. In the land separation, India was given Gurdaspur – a Muslim majority district and Pakistan was given Lahore. Lahore was a Hindu majority district. Pakistan rule was very clear that Only Muslim stays in Pakistan. So in between the riots and mammoth Pakistani Hindu had to come to India or they were being targeted. Lakhs of people died in the riots and a Million people were migrated from both the sides. There are already many movies and books that describe the pain of migration, so I won’t go into that
