The Canadian Concept:

This Super Arrow is a new, 5th Generation Stealth Interceptor designed in Canada to meet Canada's defence needs. This bird the the daughter of the Avro Arrow. She is dedicated to those who worked on the original and may she stand as a beacon of inspiration for all Canadians. Canada should be building this instead of buying the F-35. She is a far superior aircraft to any 5th Generation aircraft in the world today.

This is just too dumb to laugh at.

I do not know for sure, but if they can integrate all of the F-18 gear they have in it and add some more advanced features, it might work for Canada's defensive purposes better than any F-18 or F-35, since it is faster and more powerfull, but there is no political will at the present for this project.
I just wanted to share a nice concept for a 5th generation warplane with people interested in concepts. There is also a stealth variant with the supercruise tech and stealth tech borrowed from the F-22.
The Arrow was completely designed in Canada, based on the British AVRO Vulcan bomber design in my opinion, it flew and was tested, but was never produced. It was big and yet sleek, but mostly very fast, in the category of the Mig-25 , for reconnaissance and high altitude interception.

The Canadians had a very potent fighter in the past, called the CF-105:

The Avro Arrow was born out of the neccessity for the protection of Canada. During the height of the Cold War (1950's) era, the soviets had introduced new long range bombers, that were capable of flying over the North Pole to attack North America. This was a very serious threat as the continent lived in fear of a surprise nuclear attack.

Its role was to replace the Avro Canada CF-100 Canuck as a supersonic all weather interceptor.

Canada's then current fighter, the CF-100 Canuck, was a sub mach aircraft and not capable of filling this need so the design of the CF-105 Avro Arrow was implemented in 1953. Production was started and less then 4 years later, the Arrow was completed.
Roll out was October 4, 1957. First flight was March 25 1958.

A source of national pride, the Arrow incorporated advanced technical innovations and became a symbol of Canadian excellence.
One of the finest achievements in Canadian aviation history, the delta wing Avro Canada CF-105 Arrow was never allowed to fulfill its mission. The Arrow weapons platform along with the Iroquois engine was cancelled by the Conservative Diefenbaker government February 20, 1959, less then 3 weeks before the MK2 Arrow was to take flight.

Failed concept, If Canada wants something they should ask for twin engine YF-23 Black Widow II and work with it to make something better for today. F-35 is good when it comes to technologies but due to single engine and vast Canadian lands to cover F-23 would be much better option buying a project is not hard.

By the way the reality is it was US that enforced Canadian government to end Avro Arrow project these morons succumb to their pressure.

I like the design :smitten:

I still believe F-23 would perform beyond expectations for RCAF if incorporated with technologies from F-35 II. It would not be that equally expensive atleast better over all in performance from C-F-18s or Super Hornets. Canadian government lost all brains.

I agree , but don't you think American lobby wont let them ?
americans are so desperate to sell their F-35 to all his allies ..

Really? They can but it is all about priorities.
Our manufacturing is terrible. The Avro Arrow was a fighter concept from the 50s with joint American & Canadian scientists. Canadians cannot build engines for fighters without American help.

Proof that our manufacturing is terrible On what basis? do briefly explain with evidence and references. If engines readily available why build one? There are technologies Canada is making/developing including software/sensor by CA for F-35 II.

Building sensors is not the same as building current fighter engines. civilian airplane engines for Boeing and airbus do not have manufacturing in Canada.
We Canadians over estimate our capability.

1. No space for internal bays.
2. Intakes are too small.
3. Intakes are not supersonic.
4. Engine blades can be seen through intakes.
5. Delta wing and V tail combination is fail.

Joke kids design.

There is a aviation group trying to revive the Avro Arrow by requesting the Canadian gov to ditch the JSF. As per their cost estimates cost for Arrows will be a little over half of the JSF induction cost and proposed aircraft will have greater range and twice the speed.

Chances seem low but if implemented would be awesome.
