How come this incident is not getting any attention?

And shame on ANP for violently dispersing the crowd.

PESHAWAR: A large number of people on Wednesday staging a sit-in alongside 15 bodies of their loved ones in front of Governor House in Peshawar were forced to disperse after police resorted to baton charges and firing tear gas, Express News reported.
A delegation of Bara tribal elders were invited in to talk over terms for ending the protest and burying the dead.

The negotiations were reportedly successful, with the governor assuring the tribesmen that those innocent men of Bara in custody will be released, the victims given Rs0.4 million each and a commission formed to probe the murders.

However, late at night, when the delegation of elders returned to the gathered protesters with the demands agreed to, the protesters balked and vowed to continue their sit-in till the government ends an operation in the tribal area.

Soon after, police arrived and forced the protesters to disperse. Officers fired tear gas and loaded the caskets into trucks and shifted them to a morgue.

Earlier tribesmen gathered outside governor house in Peshawar to protest against killing of their people whose mutilated bodies were recovered from the Bara area of Khyber Agency on Tuesday evening.

The bullet-riddled bodies were found in the Alam Gudar area. The bodies of a woman and two children killed in the incident were not brought to the sit-in.

Reporters and media personnel present on the protest site estimated that around 5,000 people took part in the sit-in on Sher Shah Suri Road, right in front of Governor House

The protesters, including family members of the deceased and social activists, chanted slogans against the army and the security agencies stationed in Khyber Agency and blamed them for the killings.

The tribesmen from Bara said that the people killed were not militants but ordinary citizens, who they said were murdered in cold blood by the security agencies.

Express News reported that a scuffle broke out as Senator Hameedullah Jan Afridi attempted to address the sit-in.

The mob attacked the senator by hurling stones and shoes at him. Soon after, a supporter who was accompanying Afridi fired in the air to disperse the mob and the senator was escorted to his car to escape the clash.

The protestors said that they had not seen the senator, who hails from the Bara region, for almost four and a half years. They said that Afridi resided peacefully in Islamabad, while the situation in Bara worsened over the years.

A 12-member delegation has been constituted to negotiate with Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s governor. The committee will put forth the demands of the protestors, including ending military offensive in Bara and compensating the heirs.

Journalists are not even allowed to go into FATA, so we don't even know whats going on there.

Its a mess.

I was mad to see how that this was allowed to happen "Soon after, police arrived and forced the protesters to disperse. Officers fired tear gas and loaded the caskets into trucks and shifted them to a morgue"

Bodies of woman and two children. I thought people who are kidnapped are majorly young males.

So much for ANP looking out for the interest of the Pashtuns. I hope people of KPK/FATA take a stand and kick out useless ANP

P.S.

Protests have been arranged in Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore, I am not sure if its today or tomorrow... will update.

1. journalists are very much allowed to go to FATA if anyone has guts they go and cover

2. The protestors sit there for till night it was only late night they were forced to vacate. we had faced alot of problems in reaching homes.

3. The govt and army should investigate the incident and punish all those who are found guilty. need for military courts to take up the probe

It was clearly a frustration.. they feared people may take a sit in and it will turn out to be a country wide protest...they cracked down on people with tear gas, water canon and lathi charge, snatched the dead bodies.... this was also planned for Quetta sit in but it was too late as the protest jolted the whole nation by then...but here they acted quickly...

Bara is a lawless area with people carrying, making and selling illegal weapons.

This is all thanks to an outdated, stone age legal system called "FCR" or Frontier Crimes Regulations.

The FATA concept itself is now obsolete.

FATA and FCR must be dissolved immediately and all these areas including BARA should be under the control of Peshwar government.

All the laws of KPK government should apply to tribals.

You can't have lawless tribal system and then come to Peshawar and make demands from a government that you do not care or recognize its laws.

It is like a guy runs the red light all his life,

but then his brother gets killed by someone running the red light, so he comes to the governer house and demand justice.

What kind of $tupid logic is that?

You violate and mock all the laws of land, and then when you suffer, you say apply all the laws of land on your enemy tribe?

We are short changing these poor tribals by not enforcing the law on them,

We must end the FATA and FCR system now.

If some tribal agencies do not want to be governed by KPK gov, fine. Make a new province called Khattak province, give them modern assembly, court system, police system, and everything else that rest of the country has but tribals are not given.

If we don't do this, FATA will remain a ditto copy of lawless tribal areas like in Afghanistan, Somalia, yemen, Congo, and Sierra leon. And innocent lives like in this case will continue to be lost.

peace

Oh I thought journalists were not allowed to be in FATA. I didn't know that. And yes if members of the army were involved, they should definitely be punished severely!

Btw do you think it could have been Mangal Bagh and his followers who did this by wearing stolen army uniforms?

I know they have quite a presence in Khyber

Still shame on ANP for using violent tactics on peaceful protesters. I hope this is the starting downfall for them just like Quetta was a downfall for PPP

journalists are not allowed... they dont get the permit to enter.. unknown journalists may risk at their own... but those who agree to army's version to propagate get protection...
