31 Mahindra XUV 5OOs, 8000 kilometres, 22 days, 9 countries ASEAN countries and India are gearing up for an adrenaline-filled experience as the 2nd edition of the ASEAN-India Car Rally is all set to kick-off on 26 November 2012. On the occasion of the 20th commemorative year of India-ASEAN relations, the rally will be flagged off from Yogyakarta, Indonesia and wind its way through 8 of the 10 ASEAN countries before finally ending in New Delhi, India.
Senior Union government officials and representatives from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Auto Car India have already chalked out the possible road routes for the rally. The convoy will traverse through ASEAN countries Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos and Myanmar and then enter India from Moreh in Imphal.
The rally will pass through Guwahati on December 17, when economic ministers of ASEAN countries will meet in the principal business city in northeastern India. The flag down of the rally in Guwahati and the rally entering Moreh in Manipur, on the border with Myanmar, is part of India's move to increase connectivity with the northeast.
The rally will, after traversing 8,000 km, end in Delhi on Dec 20 to mark the commemorative event being held in New Delhi Dec 20−21 to mark the 20th anniversary of India's relationship with the bloc and the 10th anniversary of ASEAN−India summit−level partnership.
Along the route, at stops, cultural and business events are planned to showcase trading opportunities.
Mahindra to flag off the XUV 500 Asean Rally
The XUV 500 is the SUV platform from Mahindra and is known for its excellent driving dynamics with regards to handling and performance. Comfort and exterior styling is yet another appraising factor with this machine. To mark the 20th anniversary of the ASEAN Indian trade relations, the Mahindra XUV 500 will be flagged off for a tremendous 7610 kms distance rally from Yogyakarta in Indonesia which will end in Guwahati, India thereby passing tough terrains and coastal regions of Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam , Thailand and Myanmar. This indeed will prove the aggressive side of the XUV500.
A team of 124 members from 10 ASEAN countries including India will participate in the rally. Each country is required to officially send in two teams with each team holding four members as quoted by Philippines Foreign affairs department. A total of 31 Mahindra sponsored XUV500s are to be navigated in this rally. The flag off date is on the 26th of November and is expected to conclude by 20th December 2012.
