Even if there were no articles written on the Type 052D it is expectable that the next generation destroyers will be the Type 052D.

Type 052C uses Ukrainian DN80 or German 1163TB83 CODOG (gas-diesel) engines, and I don't see any deviation from that.

The Type 052D will most likely also use CODOG engines (since the Type 052 name implies that).

eh... First of all, when u say "Ukrainian DN80 OR German 1163TB83 CODOG" it's suppose to be "Ukrainian DN80 AND German 1163TB83 CODOG" Because CODOG refers to the combination of both diesel and gas turbine.

Secondly, if the claimed "052D" does appear as the rumors (increased VLS silos, bigger tonnage), I highly doubt PLAN is going to stick with the Ukrainian turbines. Which means it will not be called 052D any more.

Also, China is going to show 052D in late 2011 it will be a true equal to American AGEIS system.

China should aim to have the world's largest or second largest navy by 2025. I think it is good if the number of ships that China has is 4 or 5 times more than the total number of ships that all four India, Taiwan, Japan and South Korean navy has.

No need to make threat.

We just need be strong enough to protect our coast, get taiwan reunited with mainland and protect our oil routes.

052C is advanced. But 052D will be much more advanced.

It will be a true equal to the AGEIS.

1. Much heavier around 10,500 tons 3000 tons heavier than 052C.

2. Many more SAMs around 98 of them compare to 052C's 48.

3. Much more advanced anti sub weapon systems include advance towed decoy and sonar.

4. Much more advanced radar system comparable to the AGEIS's SYP-2!!!!!

5. Even stealther designs!

052D will be vastly superior than 052C to a level that it should be renamed!!

The current 052C is using the Chinese engine.

China is working on nuclear reactor for Super CVN, now that is a real challenge.
