These are, the Big 3, namely China, Russia, the US. What makes a state a supapawa is the following criteria:

1. area over 9.5 million square kilometers, and by virtue of such area is not landlocked

2. population in the hundreds of millions, that is, anything over 100 million

3. state of the art technologies including 5th generation jets, space technology including manned space flight

Agree?

IMO they are certainly the 3 most powerful countries today, but only USA is a superpower.

Russia is powerful, but an incomplete power due to lack of economic might, and lack of cultural power. Nonetheless, it has immense political power due to legacy of Soviet Union, and geographical position that can influence the events in the Artic ocean, Pacific, Balkans, Baltics, Eastern Europe, Middle East, Central Asia, North East Asia. IMO Russia has a lot of potentials

China is powerful, but also an incomplete power due to internal weakness. It has a per capita GDP of 7600, which is far too low. Internally, it has to deal with citizen's discontent with corruption, poverty, lack of resources, pollution. It is not attractive culturally as most people sees China citizens as poor. Also, it is surrounded by powerful countries like Russia, Japan, India (South Korea not a lightweight either), so the only place it can turn military power into influence is in South China Sea.

In every age and era, there cannot be 1 supapawa. Spain and France were supapawas in the 1500s and 1600s. Britain and France were supapawas in the 1700s and 1800s. The US and the USSR were supapawas in the 1900s.

If the US is the only supapawa the whole world would have been united into 1 country by now.

China is not a superpower, we are not even a developed country yet.

Not only do I have to agree, and we've (not you and I, but this topic in general) been over this plenty of times, so I'll spare you having to read it again :coffee:, but I think we can disagree on the criteria in the OP as well. Land mass doesn't matter, just look at the UK and Netherlands from their colonial days. They had technology and economics, but their land mass was tiny compared to their holdings. Even today they remain important players on the global stage. Japan, baring its economic problems today, could have been a superpower as well as they have two of the criteria I use, missing out on a global military presence and political power. On the contrary, Russia has the largest land mass, advanced technology and a large population, and yet its economy and cultural power is limited... Russia itself is a regional power.

China still largest developing country in world: Hu Jintao - Xinhua

We are still a developing country, that is just a fact.

If you don't like it, ask the World Bank to change their criteria for being a developed country (per capita income).

Nothing more to be done about that, apart from continuing our economic development process.

China is a developing country. China is also a supapawa. Every country is a developing country. Can the US send a man to the moon, or to Mars? Nope. Does the US have manned space flight? Nope. That's why the US is a developing country.
