What's new

Tesla caught fire. As soon as it started smoking, the electrical system locked trapping the guy inside.

Piss poor design.

Something as basic as an emergency exit should be blatantly obvious. People dont have time to watch youtube videos in a high panic situation

And to use it can potentially cause damage to the window? Really? Who designed this shit?

This goes against any common sense and safety norms every other car maker has learned about the hard way thru decades of experience

Not everyone meticulously reads every finelrint of their owner manuals. Not everyone can remember such reading material years later. in a high panic life/death situation

Piss poor design

Look at Texas, fossil fuels generate the majority of the electricity over there. In such a state using electric cars in the name of going green makes no sense. If one truly cares about the environment then one should be advocating for multiple mass public transport systems throughout multiple cities. The less dependence a city has on cars the more environmentally it will be. EVs will only be environmentally friendly when the electricity being used to power them is coming from renewable sources.
Actually, not just the power that come from renewable source, but every bit of the production have to be "Clean" environmentally. Otherwise what's is the point the factory you are making your electricity car or your battery pollute more than the car they made to replace???

I mean, most battery factory heavily pollute the surrounding area with chemical, not just green house gas is damaging to the environment, acid or chemical waste leaking into processing plant are equally evil.

It's not a poor design. Almost everybody who sits in a Tesla grabs the emergency pull latch switch to open the door by default because they are used to doing that in other cars. You actually have to train yourself not to grab it and push the trigger button instead (since a trigger button is uncommon in cars)

The manual emergency latch is right next to the window buttons and is the first thing a person sitting in a Tesla grabs to open the door. Since this is where the normal door-open latch is in many other cars.

But in a Tesla Model Y the normal way to open the door is not to pull the latch but to use a thumb trigger button away from all the other buttons.

You obviously never heard of car window indexing. :rolleyes1:

A primer for those who have never seen this..

In many cars there is no metal frame in the door surrounding the window. The window slides into a rubber gasket in the roof. When the door is opened the window quickly drops down slightly out of the gasket so it doesn't pull on it. When it is closed the window pops back up. This is seen in many sportscars, convertibles, luxory cars, and even a few regular cars.

Indexing has actually been a common feature in many cars for decades...and apparently they don't have it in many cars in Iran.

Here is somebody showing a frameless window with the window indexing in action in a non-Tesla

This is why I always said there is no tech in past or in future replace human mind because that tech is needed human to create it humans are always superior than machines in adopting the situation

That is just some of the pollution caused by lithium ion batteries. We also need to take into account pollution caused by the mining of lithium and cobalt. The adverse effects of lithium mining are water loss, ground destabilisation, biodiversity loss, increased salinity of rivers, contaminated soil and toxic waste. Don't even get me started on the harmful effects of cobalt minning.

lol yeah, I remember a segment from Top Gear, Jeromy said something like that.

Not that I hate environment friendly vehicle, but they really do need to be environment friendly, not oops, I support killing thousand of fish from making those car and battery but it's okay my car don't emit CO2...

I have lost my right to ride my motorcycle . After I came home drunk one afternoon while riding it .
So now i walk to places as a result no fear of getting trapped in a car or falling from my motorcycle.

I am all for electric cars but it is the hypocrisy of the people that angers me. I seen some retarded Americans speak in favor of the electric cars because they're environmentally friendly while at the same time speak against public transport. Norway is a great example where the EVs are actually environmentally friendlier as compared to petrol and diesel vehicles as 98% of Norway's electricity production comes from renewable energy sources.

Forget my chemistry lesson, you should develop big picture thinking. :)

Keyword : Of lithium batteries.

No, the Chinese focus on lithium batteries is because of money, political and infrastructure investment on lithium extraction and processing and insertion into battery. China has even been collaborating the those Taliban criminals to access lithium in Afghanistan.
