Was the foundation compromised or did a public works project simply do what it needed to do out sid ehte gate and then move on? I mean seriously things like sewers, watermains, and electrical lines degrade over time. Imagine the uproar if improvements were enver made and a water main buurst and flooded out the mosgue or caused structural damage.
serisouly guys try and be objective. If Israel wanted to bulldoze the mosque they would do it during a period when they were being attacke dusing the attack as justification. They would not do it during a period of calm when they know the UN would condem and US would not protect them.
They are making another structure which they can't do according to the peace deal with Jordan in '88, which gives Jordan the responsibility for doing any construction work, and if they are to do any they have to go through the Al-Aqsa comity, even the digging (which also threatens the foundation of the mosque) they are doing isn't approved from the comity and Jordan and is being done Illegally, before comment please do some search on it. All,. of the piping, etc you mentioned is handled by Jordan who have done it in the past, so Israel has NO RIGHT what so ever to touch the sacred mosque, if war comes to Israel they deserved it, and could cancel the cease-fire they have with Hamas and other factions which now will be canceled according to arabnews.com, so their's only 1 people (race: jews) to blame for this they bought more blood shed upon themselves, but like you and other west mentality people we muslims will get the blame, but hey we lived with it before and we can live with it in the future.
You know how they say a job left undone has to be completed, we'll it's going to happen, some day and get completed. (And I know you know which person I'm referring to).
And if you read the recent news, a section of the mosque was also brought down, and the side of the wall and gate have no connection so you can see, which hey I guess your blind.
Israeli government destroys Moroccan Gate and parts of Al Aqsa Mosque area amid outcry
Tuesday, 06 February 2007
ImageIsraeli forces demolished the entrance to the Al Aqsa Mosque after destroying the Moroccan Gate bridge leading to the Muslim holy site. Chief Palestinian Justice Sheikh Taysir Tamimi said that the timing of the destruction in the Old City of East Jerusalem was purposeful as all eyes are on the meeting in Mecca and political leaders are enroute.
The Sheikh told a press conference in Ramallah this afternoon that the Israeli government is continuing with its plan to demolish the historic road at the Moroccan Gate with a major threat to the western side of the Mosque.
Israeli forces expelled all Arab workers and journalists Monday, increased the military presence in the face of nonviolent protests over the past two days, and closed all roads on Tuesday.
Sheikh Tamimi pointed out that today's demolitions began a few years ago when the excavation plan was laid to destroy Al Aqsa Mosque one part at a time and build over its remains. He said that Israel is committed to ethnic cleansing.
The Israeli government is destroying Muslim neighborhoods and historic sites, demolishing Palestinian homes and closing Jerusalem to Palestinians with the Wall. It is also penetrating the Muslim Quarter of the Old City and building a synagogue and putting Jewish settlers in place.
The Sheikh said that he trusted the ability of Palestinians to defend the holy places and face the occupation. A number of Palestinian leaders issued statements and sent letters of protest, as did the Jordanian King and government, but this has not stopped Israeli forces in the systematic takeover of Jerusalem.
