I say sachin tendulkar is the greatest batsman of all time but others may not view it that way.

However no one should rightfully deny Tendulkar to be regarded as the most humble person on cricket field. I love sachin not because he is so successful and that how many runs he has scored or the way he has scored them. I love Sachin because of the kind of person he is. A person who is a kid when celebrating , a master while batting , a human while meeting fans....

It matters not how much praise I sing because any accolades showered are too few for him.

Thank you Sachin , for being what you are , for coming into the world and teaching us about the importance of hard work even if you're a genius , of showing us how to stay grounded even when every success possible in your profession touches your feet.

Guys we can use this thread to post videos/wallpapers/article etc etc on Sachin.

I can only imagine how many runs would players like Saeed Anwar/Inzimam/ Javed
would have made if Pakistan was give to play 5 test match series regularly

But all countries did not wanted to play 5 test match series with Pakistan when we were in top from !!! out of fear of losing

Since we only get to play 3 test match series every time our cricketers get less chance to play and make more runs.....also point to note is is during Imran Khan's time we used to play alot of 5 test match series and that was also the time when our team under stood how to play the long format of the game

Agreed. We don't love Sachin for his centuries or sixes but his humble and mature nature. He is so wise and honest on and off the field. He never cheated or fiddled with the game and always admitted his mistakes.

Other should also learn from him, specially Australians, who love to cheat. They remind me of Eddie Gurrero, the WWE wrestler who believed in 'Cheat to Win'.

Ponting causes riots:whistle:

This one innings made me respect him as the GREATEST players in cricket

for me Sachin is indeed a legend

though i would rank Ricky Ponting higher than him because of his great Captaincy skills, attitude, batting and all round performance (now don't tell me all-rounder means bowler/batsmen)

If you take him just a batsmen then probably Sachin is below nobody....... he is among the best in the cricket history and probably deserves place in all time XI.

Sachin reaches his 47th Test Century ... I hope he makes 50 centuries in both ODI's (LOI's) & Tests :)

They are both awesome batsmen, although i feel Ponting is an inch ahead in tests and Tendulkar an inch in odis. I admire Ponting's leadership and mental strength at the expense of being ridiculed by every diehard Indian Tendulkar fan :D He could have easily given up captaincy when Mcgrath/Warne/Martyn/Hayden/Langer retired, being a responsible senior he fought with the young men tooth and nail, lost some games and won a lot more. He holds the record of being the most victorious player and captain in the history of the game :smokin: Thats Australianism exemplified for you.

Its splendid to have such splendid sportsmen in our generation .. Roger Federer, Michael Schumacher and Michael Phelps come to mind.

If you are considering only batting skills then I would love to see your justifications for that. For me the order is(last 20 years)--

Test

1. Sachin
2. Lara(only a tad below Sachin, I wouldn't mind if someone puts him above Sachin)

daylight

3. Ponting
4. Kallis
5. Dravid

ODI
1. Sachin

No one comes close to him

Ponting is much more consistent against better bowling attacks. Sachin, a genius, does capitalize on minnows more often. When i last looked up, Ponting had a slightly better second innings record as well. Ponting also won the cricketer of the decade award recently, the panel being fairly diverse.

In terms of odis, i would agree, Tendulkar has the edge.
