The Chinese-Pakistani JF-17 fighter jet, in contention of Malaysia’s Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) project along with India’s Tejas will not be participating in the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace (LIMA) to be held in Malaysia next week.

According to the official list of participating aircraft released by the organizers, the JF-17 will not be present in the static and flying displays. The Tejas, however is listed in the flying display along with the Russian YAK-130, another Malaysian LCA project contender.

The absence of the Pakistani aircraft, thought a key contender for the Malaysian LCA procurement, has surprised LIMA watchers. The Malaysian air force chief, Affendi Buang, who had visited the IDEAS show in Karachi in November had extended an invitation to the Pakistani air force to demonstrate its aircraft at LIMA.

However, a Malaysian source told defenseworld.net that the reason for the Pakistani no show could be that the aircraft is expected to be demonstrated on the occasion of the Pakistani National Day on March 23 where the Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohammed is the chief guest.

As the commanders see fit, they know better. Its just interesting development since JF17 is a contender for malaysian LCA program.

PAF didn't accept the invite to begin with.

Why not? Isnt PAF interested in selling it to Malaysia? One would expect an aircraft that is looking to become a part of Malaysia inventory would be participating. the current tension between India and Pak arent that high that pak cant spare 1 or 2 jets.
PS:- genuine question, no intention of engaging in Tejas vs JF17 (title mentions tejas as alongwith Thunder, its also a participant in the LCA program for malaysia.)

JF-17 dont need display anymore. many countries are interested. Moreover Malaysian Leader is in Pakistan, JFTs will be performing in front of him tomorrow.

President of Malaysia is currently in Pakistan

JF17s have been on display for the last month and have shot down indian jets

The dude we want to convince is already in Pakistan and is getting full view of the JF17 whilst it is actively defending Pakistani skies

If your tejas wasent such junk you wouldnt be flying Mig21s (FACT) but enjoy your air show whilst the real jets are busy doing actual work
